Just Call Me Millie Matchmaker

A Silly- Dilly Post
Well ladies, most of you know I've been in the Yukon for a week now.
During this time in the course of my work I have met a few single fellows
who are interested in finding a bride to share the rest of their lives with.
Upon discovering that I have a blog, they thought I might have a few
connections with some women who are single and might be longing for
a life of adventure (yeh, right) here in the Yukon Territory.
I tried to deter them from involving me by saying that the way one usually
meets another person over the internet is by submitting a photo of
oneself first and then take it from there if you are both agreeable.
Honestly, I find being involved at all in this  rather seedy. But since they
went to the trouble of going out and having a photo taken, I'll just post the
pictures and if any of you are interested just let me know!

There you have it ladies! I've done my part-the rest is up to you!

Winter Wonderland

Last night at closing time it began to snow! It's not all that unusual for
this time of year here and I understand the east has gotten far more.
But I was impressed all over again with it's beauty.
This is all that's left this morning. You might notice the mountain on the right.
We have a view of many mountains here. I wanted to show you the view from
our kitchen window, but I haven't had time to clean it yet! From the outside, that is.
Many of you have ask how I'm doing. Well, as long as I have my daily dose
of this I can get through! I told my blogger friend Pamela that I'm either
getting old or lazy. But in reality I'm closer to 60 now and just do not have
any intentions of working the long hours I did when I was in my 30's or 40's.
And this old body is just starting to rebel on me.
Which is why I faithfully stick to my daily regimen of vitamins and muscle
pain gel now! Every time I take a Vita-Vim it reminds me of the 'I Love
Lucy' show where she does an advertisement for vitamins. Have you ever
seen that one? It was a liquid drink called-Ida-Vitaminie, I think. I sure
wish I had some of that right now. Or better than that the 'Elixer of Life'
that the traveling Kernel gave to Aunt Bee. Remember when she had shared
this great energy potion with her church club ladies and Andy walks in
and find them all around the piano singing 'Role Out the Barrel and We'll have a Barrel of Fun'? At least I think that was the song. Please correct
me if I'm wrong.
Oh, what I would give for some elixir right now.
I'd best be off to relieve Tim for a while so he can have some breakfast.
I'll try to keep you posted better now that I'm somewhat settled.
 Take care my friends.

Spring Fling

Here's a little something I treated myself to for making this long and
arduous journey to the Yukon. I've sworn off most mags, but when I saw
this one I couldn't resist. It is not only full of garden displays; it has recipes,
and home decorating ideas as well.
It's new to me, but maybe some of you have seen it before. It is published
quarterly. Or I guess one could say seasonally.

This magazine will always remind me of our trip out to the Yukon. Not
just because it helped to pass the time with me day dreaming. It will be
because when I first went to get my reading glasses out of my purse to
read this mag,  I at that time discovered that I had no purse!!! Oh my
goodness, did panic ever set in. We were 20 minutes out of Dawson Creek
where we had bought gas, so I knew exactly where I'd left it.
Tim could not drive fast enough to get me back in there to see that my
purse was still safely intact. Believe me, there was a lot of praying going
on! Fortunately the manager had seen my bag sitting on the counter
and had already put it in the safe. Bless her heart. So after many
prayers of thanks we were again on our way again.
OK, this is possibly my favorite of all the photos. I love
the old, pitted pottery. It looks so homemade. You don't
see this type of heavy pottery around much here anymore.
It reminds me of the old, old mixing bowls or crocks.
**********************************************************
Hubby was kind enough to cover for me this morning
until we have a meeting with out employer later this
morning. He knows how much I've missed my blogging!
I'm curious, have any of you ever left your purses behind?
Please tell me I'm not the only scatter brain out there. I'm
going to try to pop over to visit and see what all I've missed
this last week.
Have a great weekend-Kimberly

Yukon Travel Photos

I don't have time to write alot, but I'll show you the many beautiful
vistas we saw as we were driving our last day. We were supposed
to have more time to set up our housekeeping, but we were needed
at our workplace earlier. Our new employers mother is hospitalized
and not doing well at all, thus we're trying to get started with very
little training on a new touch screen POS system. Today was our
1st day with training and tomorrow we're on our own. Yikes!

Muncho Lake, BC
This is one of several mountain streams that are just opening up.

There were many buffalo in northern BC!

Many caribou also!

Toad River Lodge has over 8069 hats on their ceiling and walls. It's very rustic.
****************************************
I hope it won't be too long until I will be free to visit soon and give you more details of
what's going on here. I can see the mountains right out our kitchen window so I'll try
to get some photos for you soon of them. Until then, take care-Kimberly

Yukon Journey-We Are Here!

Hi, I just want to let you know we made it to Whitehorse!!
But every motel room in the town was rented so we had to
drive further out for one. A long story short-their Wi-Fi only
has two bars so I can't upload any photos.
I'll catch up with you as soon as I can with todays mountain photos.

Yukon Journey Day-4

Day #4-Warning: You may be bored to death!
This ladies is what one gets when you complain about
traveling in the rain all day. Yep, snow all day!
In the event there is someone out there that is from another
planet and has never seen an oil well, here is one of the many
we passed in Alberta today.
Although I'm being a bit of a 'whiner'
I am so thankful to the good Lord for another day of safe
traveling and a clean and comfy place to lay my head.
Tomorrow we're on to Ft. Nelson, BC.
Sweet Dreams My Friends
*****************************************
I am getting excited (anxious) about my new home. I have
never moved into a place I've hadn't seen first. Believe me,
it was tough not knowing what to pack to decorate the new
place. So I basically didn't! I brought family photos, our
bedding, and my favorite kitchen canisters. So I'm starting
from scratch basically. Do you think that qualifies me for a shower of some sort?  Well it was just a thought after all.
Take care-Kimberly

Yukon Journey

  Day #2
Thursday's journey was full of many beautiful vistas, like this one.
These shots were taken on the western part of Ontario before the Manitoba border.

We, by chance, ate lunch at a restaurant that has been featured on the Food Network. It's
located in Vermillion Bay, Ontario. That black bag you see there is all of our clothing
and bedding!

As you can see Buster has won many ribbons for his famous BBQ sauce.
Hubby wasn't thrilled about posing, but I thought my MIL would get a kick
out of seeing his mug again!
The BBQ was good, but not as good as Tim's secret BBQ sauce.

I'm such a sucker for painted murals on walls like this one at Busters. I wish I could've
thrown it on top of the car and taken it with me.

Day#3
Oh, what a difference a day can make! Today we traveled through Saskatchewan and it rained
all the way. I forgot to photograph Manitoba yesterday-it was a lot of farmland, which this
time of year isn't really very pretty.
We passed this gas refinery as we approached Lloydminster, which is where we are
staying tonight. It's right on the Saskatchewan/Alberta border.
And this ladies is where I'm going to lay my head tonight. I haven't figured out yet how
just sitting in a car can make you feel so exhausted. I think it might have something
to do with the stress  of traveling through cities you're don't normally frequent, worrying
all of you're clothing on the top of the car will blow off; oh, all kinds of ridiculous stuff I
know! I think I'm just getting old! What else can it be?
***************************************
That's it for days 1, 2, and 3. Since we got in early today, I hope to drop in and visit your
post and see how your day is going.
Sweet Dreams!
Kimberly

Yukon Journey-Day 1

We said 'goodbye' to our beautiful Lake Superior today. For how long I'm not sure. I was a
little sad, but also filled with joy knowing that our son and his new bride will have a turn at
experiencing what DH and I have with our years here on the lake. What do they say? "Joy
shared is joy doubled". That's how I felt.

We followed six of these matching vehicles until we had a chance to pass them.
Can you read the advertisement on the back of this car?
 Here's a happy driver!

O.K. there you have it: Google Maps Streetwise. Tim and I popped into Tim Horton's in Wawa
for refreshment and when I came out there were the Google cars. I thought maybe they were
going to report me to the O.P.P. for taking so many 'unauthorized' photos! But no, I got away
without any jail time. Thank heavens. I did ask a fellow in line with me if he was one of the
google guys and he said, "no". I wanted to get nosy.
I'm sorry that's the end of the story. I never found out what they were up to. Or what those odd
shaped black things on the top of their cars were. Maybe one of you already know and can tell me!
******************************************************
We are spending the night in Thunder Bay tonight. I'm afraid that's all the excitement we
experienced today. So now I'm off to shower, then back to see what all of you have been up to
today.

Short-But Sweet

My trip down to Michigan to visit our g'son, Javan, was indeed
'short, but sweet'. When Emily and I discovered that Javan's
spring break was the same week as her children, we knew we
wanted to go!
We spent a lot of time swimming, but discovered a nature park
that was located not far from our motel too. This photo is of
Javan and Lambert on one of the many downed logs they
traversed.
It wasn't just the 'little' ones that got a thrill out of playing
circus either!
Starlet wasn't quite sure she was going to cross this log standing.
It was a good 5' off the ground. But little brother, Lambert,
was there to encourage her.

Star was really happiest when she found flowers she could pick!
You see that big leafy one? Well we soon discovered once we
were in the car, that it must be what's know as a 'skunk' flower!
Stinky, for sure.
Can you see the Canadian Goose nesting on this mound? We
almost walked right past it.
I can't begin to tell you how special it was for me to have this
time with the g'kids before we shove off to the Yukon. Before
leaving we went to Javan's home where he put on a piano
recital for us all. He is doing so well!
It's so good to get back home. I'm hoping I'll have time to drop
by to visit and see what all of you have been up to lately.
 We will be leaving
early Wednesday morning. I've got a feeling our lives going
to be like a whirlwind of change for a while. My greatest
comfort is in knowing that wherever I go the Lord goes
with me.
Have a great Monday-Kimberly

On the Road Again

Hi Friends! Just a quick note to say I'm on the road again.
I just found out that our oldest g'son is on Holy Week break.
So instead of Emily and the children coming here, we decided
to pack up and travel down to visit Javan and get a room for
a couple of nights.
I'll be in touch soon!! Enjoy your week!

Signs of Spring

source
You can't imagine my surprise yesterday when I saw an Otter
swimming by on the lake. He was so......cute! I didn't have time
race into the house, to get the camera, and get a shot myself. But
here is a photo I found on line.
source
Let me tell you the little fellow was swimming so fast, I'm sure
he didn't get very much further before he had to take a little
breather like this poor, sleepy fellow did.
I did have time to get a shot of a couple of birds feeding
atop our 'hot tub'.
Another sign that spring is nearer-Mr. Blue Jay!

A common enough looking bird.
But I'm afraid I don't know it's name, do you?
I do know this sweet fellows name.
Our precious little g'son, Reece. He sure has grown since
Christmas when he was here visiting. Maybe you remember
him. I know he's sure ready for spring.

Although I know it's a ways off until my chives look like
this photo I had taken last year, I was encouraged to see
green at the base of  the plant already. Yeah!!
I know many of you that live further south are
already enjoying your bulbs, and lilacs, and such.
But this is all really impressive to me considering
it's still just barely hovering above freezing here!
****************************************************
I'm off for a full day of errands and shopping now.
Just what do you have planned for the day?
Blessing,
Kimberly
