I have to tell you that this one of the best days of my life! To see our
youngest son wedded and happy was a answer to our many years of
prayers.
Elijah and Laura were wed at a settlement outside of Skagway called Dyea.
You must take many turns and twist around sometimes narrow roads to
reach Dyea. Then from there drive out through muddy pot-holed two tracks
to the peninsula flats were their wedding was held.
Here the children are pictured with Pastor Ryan, who married them. The ceremony was perfect for them; casual, yet very deeply embedded with
God's word and outline for their lives together as a couple.
Elijah actually built the pulpit out of driftwood
and scraps. I love it!
I remember that Tim and I had wanted to be married
on an old Missouri back road where he had purposed
to me. But we were persuaded that it wouldn't be at
all proper, so we went the conventional route. And as
he reminded me we never really got to even enjoy what
was to be 'our' day! So we kept our noses out of it and just
showed up.
Here the happy couple are taking off on their 'limousine' to the reception.
Their wedding was exactly what they wanted and it was beautiful!!
A big congratulations to Elijah and his beautiful bride. Also congratulations to you and all of the family as well. It is so perfect that they had the wedding that they dreamed of...How many of us would have rather done that very thing.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy for you, my dear friend. xxoo
Congratulations to Elijah and Laura! May God bless their marriage!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Dyea, I've never been there, though!
I would love to meet you in Skagway sometime....maybe we can cook something up!
I pray often about this that they find wonderful mates to enjoy the rest of their lives with.....what a blessing this is....congrats to the cute couple!!!

ReplyDeleteOh that is so awesome... Love that setting. WOW!! George and I got married outside with only family present --and it was so much more fulfilling than my first wedding was...
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about your son.. My youngest (who has had some rough luck with women) has finally found the love of his life. They are getting married in October. I'm SO SO SO happy for him. SO--I know exactly how you feel.
Congrats to them...
Hugs,
Betsy
Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Elijah and Laura. They chose a beautiful place to get married. I'm happy to hear they married where they wanted to marry. It's so hard when family and or friends try to change your plans. Elijah and Laura must have been extremely happy that no one tried changing their plans. Your a great Mom!!!
Enjoy your time with your kids and have a great weekend.
They do look like a very sweet couple. I hope it was warmer than it looks. I'm so happy for you that you got to be there to witness such a touching ceremony and all with that sweet little pulpit.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy

Congratulations. They look beyond happy! What a beautiful couple. I love the podium that your son built. He looks like such a free spirit...and so does she.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter got married at a local amusement park set on the Bay...outside on the back veranda of the pavilion. Everyone got 10 tickets to ride the rides and then the tiny train took everyone in the wedding party around the park. It, too, was lovely and just what they wanted. xo Diana
