I noticed on my walk today that we have new blooms along the road.
My husband said yesterday they were lupine. I assured him lupine are
much taller, but upon  close inspection I realized he was right. These
are definitely lupine flowers. I don't know why but the
Yukon lupine doesn't grow as tall as our Ontario plants does. But they
are still pretty, just a mini version.
I found another bird to add to my small collection while in Skagway. I had too
much light on so the photos not the best. I was going to show you my collection thus far, but I haven't transfered my old photos to this new laptop yet. Silly me.
And I just had to have this retro (1954) tissue holder. It's actually older
than me! It reads, Flin Flon, Manitoba. I think it will look cute
in our cabin, don't you?  Oh, and it was only $10.-not bad.
Will you please pray for my folks? My mother fell and they don't feel she'll
ever be able to walk again. This means she has to go to the nursing home.
She has always dreaded this day coming and she so wants to go to be with
the Lord. She is in a lot of pain as well. I can't know the Lords plan, but I
hate to see her suffer. This is so hard on my Dad also.
I'm so thankful that  I  now have a network of blogger friends
that I can turn to for prayer. Thank you all.

  1. Kimberly, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's fall. That's not a good thing for older folks. I'll keep her in thoughts and prayers for sure.

We saw tons of lupine on the Kenai peninsula and it got about 20 inches tall, but we also saw some in the Yukon that was short. Guess it just depends on the microclimate.

  5. Sorry to hear about your Mom...I know you just want to be there for her. Prayers for you.

That's wild lupine...thus the shorter stature...however, my wild is taller because it is wetter here.

God Bless Your Mom... I will pray for her. I know you worry about her so I will keep you in my prayers also.

  21. Kimberly - I will be praying for your mom. I know how hard it is to be worrying about an aging parent. Prayers for you too!

  22. Your lupin look a bit like Texas bluebonnets, sweet and demure cousins of the long legged lupines that are found all over North America.

I feel so for you and your mom's situation. We middle aged daughters know our mothers will not be with us forever, but we want them in health and happiness until the end, and in their own homes too. I will add my prayers for your mom today; today is my own mother's 84 th birthday and her second knee repacement is in three weeks.
Wouldn't it be great if our parents could get younger as we get older?

  27. Oh dear, I hate hear about your Mom, maybe she hurts now, but the body has amazing healing powers and I pray it will get better as time goes on. Pain is such a tough thing to handle on a continuous basis and I am sure has caused her such sadness, tell her not to give up the ship yet! It must be tough for you to be so far away.

  30. Aren't there other options for her? Wheelchair, in home nursing care. As long as your Dad is still there it should be okay. My Aunt took care of my Uncle for many years after his stroke and he never had to go to a home. They put in a stair lift and she had home nurses come and bathe him etc. A nursing home is not cheap so home health services do all they can to keep the couple together and also to keep them in their home. Those scooter chairs I think are able to get through regular doorways and such. It might be worth looking into. Just some ideas but meanwhile I will pray.

  31. My heart goes out to your poor Mom and Dad, it's a day that none of them or us, for that matter look forward to. My prayers are with them.
I LOVE the tissue holder, interesting that it's from north of me here, of all places.
When I lived in the north, I noticed that a lot of things were smaller in size there, even the trees, I think it's due to the short growing season, that's how they've adapted, in my own opinion.
    Hugs, Cindy

  32. I will pray for your parents and you all that the right decision will be made for her care. We've been through a similar thing in the last few months. We've had to move my 96 year old mother in law to a private care home.
Love the pretty flowers - look just like our Texas Bluebonnets!

  33. Don't know how, I keep missing your posts.
I need to come here and catch up on all your more current blog posts.
    The flowers are pretty.
the tissue box looks cool-- seems fitting for a cabin!

I am sorry for you and your mom. She must be terribly upset. I hope that she sees this time as restful and that it will help her to Trust the LORD more each day. I will pray for her.
If the worst case scenerio is not walking again--The Lord will give her the strength to live with that.
He decides who walks and who doesn't.
Praying for her recovery, but mostly for Peace and healing, and no pain.
    Pat
