If you want to know why I'm suffering from cabin fever, just take a look at this lake!
This is what the lake looked like 10 days ago! I actually thought Spring was on its way. Ha!
You would think after living on or near Lake Superior for over 23 years, I'd know better by now.
I suppose I was being a little overly optimistic...
Yesterday morning, while I was still sleeping, my husband heard this beautiful woodpecker making an awful racket and got a few decent photos of him.
I hope you can make him out behind all of those branches, he blends so well.
I would give you his official name, but I'm afraid that I've already packed my bird books to take Up North to the lodge.
Yes, we leave this weekend!
I just can't believe how the time has snuck up on me!
But it is all good.
I've got a lot of catching up to do, so have the teapot on. I'm on my way over now...
Kimberly
Hard to believe people are still having that amount of snow. We never had a "real" snow this year, but we had snow showers without accumulation all day yesterday and more on the forecast for today.
ReplyDeleteI liked seeing your woodpecker. We have a red headed woodpecker in our backyard. Fun to watch them since they are so easy to spot.
Have a fun trip this weekend!
March is going out like a lion! It should turn around soon. I believe that's a hairy woodpecker in the tree. Sometimes I stand and listen to the woodpeckers in the woods next to us- it can be really interesting to hear. We have the pileated woodpecker visit too and you'd swear they're going to cut the tree down!
ReplyDeleteIt leaves me wondering what the weather is like "up north." Happy journey and I hope to be in touch every now and then...I'm sure that you will be crazy busy.
ReplyDeleteThat first comment is hysterical. I've been laughing so hard that blogger couldn't figure that spam out!
ReplyDeleteMorning Kimberly, that`s March for ya, looks very pretty though......Great pictures of the Woodpecker, is it a Hairy?? Good luck on your venture, keep in touch and take lots of pictures.....Easter Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteYou always have such GORGEOUS pictures! Such a pretty place to live right on Lake Superior like that! Wishing you luck and sending prayers for your new venture. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteWell, I can see you are going to have to take off anonymous comments like the rest of us have....idiots....
ReplyDeleteANYWAY- I hear you- love Lake Superior but it can turn on a dime, can't it? The woodpecker is neat-he does blend right into his surroundings.
I can't BELIEVE it is time for you to leave again already! xo Diana
Gosh you are moving already? The top picture is now? The lake has frozen?
ReplyDeleteI would have cabin fever too. I look forward to seeing a picture of your new place.
Ach!!! I don't blame you one bit for having cabin fever, I have been suffering from it, too. Hopefully the sun will turn all of that snow and ice back into water this week.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
It looks cold but soo pretty! It looks cold here, too, as we still have snow on the ground but the sun is shining this morning! Yay!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels and best of luck as you start your new adventure!
Burrrrrrr and I would so have cabin fever. Safe journey and you next adventure! Can't wait to see pictures of your new area. I'm sure they will be spectacular like your pic's of the lake!!! Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough not very spring like the lake is beautiful in all it's wild winter majesty. What a view! Hope all your organizing goes well.
ReplyDeleteNeat pictures. Also, it looks totally cold there!
ReplyDeleteThis may call for an eyeroll from you and I wouldn't blame you, but it's always been one of my dreams to see a large body of water completely frozen over. It just doesn't happen here in East TN!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I'd have cabin fever too looking out across that frozen lake. Great pictures, though! I hope you have a safe trip to the lodge.
ReplyDeleteI surely miss living on the Lake but I don't miss the cold up there.
ReplyDeleteIs it really that time already? My oh my how time flies.
The ice must have blown in from the lake? Maybe it will blow back out too. lol I wish you safe travels and hope all is well as you settle in to your new venture! Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing. Blessings, and hugs. Pam
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous before & after pics of the Lake. It is certainly spring here in So Ca. My daughter spent an hour sunbathing and reading a magazine today and I could not resist joining her for some fresh air. Swaying palms and blue skies! WHat a TREAT to see the woodpecker. Happy Easter :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like either a Hairy or a Downey Woodpecker, but without seeing the beak and relative size there's no way to tell.
ReplyDeletePlease tell us all about the new lodge!!
I replied above before reading any of the other comments. I don't allow anonymous comments on my blog and with good reason. For the last week or so, some idiot keeps trying to leave a comment that makes no sense. I know its spam, so I delete and block it, but they keep coming back. All in response to the same post.
ReplyDeleteAwe -- beautiful photos and the wood pecker great shot and this weekend the adventure begins.. I'll be thinking of you!!
