Beautiful Snow!

The first snow of the year has arrived!
I watched the snowflakes come down all day yesterday to no avail. They melted as soon as they hit the ground.
However, this morning I awoke to a beautiful winter wonderland.
This is my next door neighbours little porch.
I'm not really sure why she has scarecrows and reindeer out at the same time...
Maybe because she's lived here long enough to know Halloween and snow go hand in hand together here in the North.
I wanted you to see this little tree in our backyard that is hanging on tight to it's leaves.
It's a pretty contrast against the whiteness of the snow, I think.

Lastly, just to give you a better perspective of how much snow we received, here is a photo of my car.
They were predicting 15cm.
Thank goodness we didn't get that much!

Do you have any snow where you live?
I'd love to know if we were the only 'lucky' ones!

  1. We had a snow flurry about 15 miles west of us on Friday, but no actual snow here in our area in NE Kansas. We ARE getting a hard freeze tonight, so there goes the rest of the garden!

  2. You are lucky! Your snow storm blanketed everything in a beautiful coat of white.

I love the first snows of the season. It isn't until we've shoveled and slid around on slick roads for months and months that I get tired of it~~~LOL!

    Enjoy your winter wonderland :)

  3. Your snow looks beautiful! And, no we don't get snow here very often at all. Maybe once every 5 years or so. We have a daughter in K.C. that we go visit and get to enjoy some snow while there occasionally. We love it although driving in it makes me nervous! Also the cold is hard for me when we're there. I never can get enough clothes on! But it is beautiful!!

  6. Yay! The first snowfall of the year in blogland in the bloggerhood of Canada! Love it, but, yes, I feel for that delicate little tree, but it's a real trooper! Perhaps it's just saying, '...No biggie. Seen worse. Been there, done that...'

Enjoy the blanket of white jewels, Kimberly!

  9. It looks pretty! No snow here. It's a little too soon, yet, and that's OK with me. Your little tree stands out against the snow.

  11. Wow. You sure got more than a dusting of snow Kimberly and it's very pretty laying on everything. I love the first snowfall but it doesn't last so is always disappointing. I guess we might get some flurries on the weekend. It's 16 here today! Your maple tree looks brilliant against the white world. Have a great week!

  13. I love the first snow of the season. It's always so pristine and blankets everything in a beautiful quiet blanket. I'm near KC and it's either hit or miss when it comes to snow. Right now we're in the 60's and it seems it's going to stay that way for awhile.

  14. No snow for us, but heard about the snowfall expected in Northern Ontario. I don't think I'm ready for snow yet, have only just given up wearing my sandals and the boots are still in hibernation ;)

  18. Hey Kimberly,

There was snow up in the panhandle of Oklahoma the other day. We're just down right cold here. It rained like crazy the night before last with all kinds of thunder, the house shook terribly.

  24. Wow that's quite a bit of snow for October. It is pretty, we are still pretty warm here, the leaves are just beginning to change

  25. Yikes, snow already?? Is this normal for your part of the world? We are enjoying what we call an Indian summer. It in the low seventies and the colors are gorgeous. I guess all I can say is STAY WARM!!!

  26. Oh wow! We are unusually chilly here and expecting to be down into the 30's this weekend but no snow. So jealous! Can you send some down to GA? Enjoy and stay warm!

  27. I will gladly let you be the lucky one! Haha! I had to laugh at the scarecrow and reindeer, they look especially humorous under the snow!
It did snow here in Winnipeg for several hours yesterday, but with barely freezing temps it did not stick even on the foliage.
People out at parts of Lake Winnipeg got a foot of it though!
I'm so glad that we didn't. I'm just not ready for it yet. I'm wearing my boots, but it's for the cold. Brrr.
    Hugs, Cindy

  33. No snow here yet, thankfully ! I always dread the bitterness of winter and am in no hurry to see autumn leave! I think your tree agrees, it's not quite time to give up on fall;)

  34. Well, that's a very eclectic front porch. LOL She should probably have her Easter bunnies out there too!

  35. It's so pretty! Considering how far north you are located, it's not surprising that you have gotten snow already. We won't be due any snow for a while yet. And we typically only get a couple throughout the whole winter!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh yes! I must move further north!
    : )

  37. Oh wow, you already have snow. Our temps are dropping, that is for sure,so I won't be surprised if we get our first snow by Thanksgiving.
