The first snow of the year has arrived!
I watched the snowflakes come down all day yesterday to no avail. They melted as soon as they hit the ground.
However, this morning I awoke to a beautiful winter wonderland.
This is my next door neighbours little porch.
I'm not really sure why she has scarecrows and reindeer out at the same time...
Maybe because she's lived here long enough to know Halloween and snow go hand in hand together here in the North.
I wanted you to see this little tree in our backyard that is hanging on tight to it's leaves.
It's a pretty contrast against the whiteness of the snow, I think.
Lastly, just to give you a better perspective of how much snow we received, here is a photo of my car.
They were predicting 15cm.
Thank goodness we didn't get that much!
Do you have any snow where you live?
I'd love to know if we were the only 'lucky' ones!
We had a snow flurry about 15 miles west of us on Friday, but no actual snow here in our area in NE Kansas. We ARE getting a hard freeze tonight, so there goes the rest of the garden!
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky! Your snow storm blanketed everything in a beautiful coat of white.
ReplyDeleteI love the first snows of the season. It isn't until we've shoveled and slid around on slick roads for months and months that I get tired of it~~~LOL!
Enjoy your winter wonderland :)
Your snow looks beautiful! And, no we don't get snow here very often at all. Maybe once every 5 years or so. We have a daughter in K.C. that we go visit and get to enjoy some snow while there occasionally. We love it although driving in it makes me nervous! Also the cold is hard for me when we're there. I never can get enough clothes on! But it is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI do think you are the lucky ones. Enjoy your beautiful snow. You know what it is like in my neck of the woods. :)
ReplyDeleteNo snow for us yet and I am not looking forward to it yet either we have so much to do in the yard before we can have snow but mother nature decides that not us.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Yay! The first snowfall of the year in blogland in the bloggerhood of Canada! Love it, but, yes, I feel for that delicate little tree, but it's a real trooper! Perhaps it's just saying, '...No biggie. Seen worse. Been there, done that...'
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the blanket of white jewels, Kimberly!
Poppy
It is pretty but I'm not ready for it yet!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of snow!! We had a dusting this morning but the sun came out and it was gone - I don't want to see snow for a while.
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty! No snow here. It's a little too soon, yet, and that's OK with me. Your little tree stands out against the snow.
ReplyDeleteYour snow is just beautiful! No, we have no snow here in NC. We are suppose to have frost on Thursday night though.
ReplyDeleteWow. You sure got more than a dusting of snow Kimberly and it's very pretty laying on everything. I love the first snowfall but it doesn't last so is always disappointing. I guess we might get some flurries on the weekend. It's 16 here today! Your maple tree looks brilliant against the white world. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW ! I knew you guys were to get snow but not that much already ! It is cold here and we have a wind chill of -2 but no snow yet . Oh a new and fresh canvas for photos . Wonderful photos . Have a good week !
ReplyDeleteI love the first snow of the season. It's always so pristine and blankets everything in a beautiful quiet blanket. I'm near KC and it's either hit or miss when it comes to snow. Right now we're in the 60's and it seems it's going to stay that way for awhile.
ReplyDeleteNo snow for us, but heard about the snowfall expected in Northern Ontario. I don't think I'm ready for snow yet, have only just given up wearing my sandals and the boots are still in hibernation ;)
ReplyDeleteNot yet dear friend, snow flurries by Thursday with a hard freeze tonight here in Upstate/Western NY. We finally gave in and turned the furance on, very nippy & very windy, the temp says 45*-no way, with the wind much chillier. Blessings
ReplyDeleteOh oh, but does look pretty I do like the snow. We had some flurry s this morning but didn't amount to anything, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos!! New Follower!
ReplyDeleteJody
No. If I did, I'd be in bed. Glad that you are taking it all in stride and even enjoying it. Did you bake?
ReplyDeleteHey Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteThere was snow up in the panhandle of Oklahoma the other day. We're just down right cold here. It rained like crazy the night before last with all kinds of thunder, the house shook terribly.
No Snow Here-Thank goodness. I am just not ready this year...maybe I never am. But it is in the low 30's today but feels colder with the wind off the bay. UGH- You can have ALL my snow if you'd like- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteNope! No snow here! LOL! In the 60's but love yours! BTW, where are you living now? Looks pretty behind your house...big hill with many trees!
ReplyDeleteIt look very wintery there -- I guess we beat-ya in the snow fall.. as you know it came early... but today is splendid bright and clear day = beautiful fall day!! Guess it's time to "Bring out the homemade soups and blankets" - wink!
ReplyDeleteBe safe driving in that white stuff...
Hugs
Love the contrast of the fall foliage on the tree and the winter white!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
We got snow on Saturday night but the ground was to warm for it to stick around. Your pics are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow that's quite a bit of snow for October. It is pretty, we are still pretty warm here, the leaves are just beginning to change
ReplyDeleteYikes, snow already?? Is this normal for your part of the world? We are enjoying what we call an Indian summer. It in the low seventies and the colors are gorgeous. I guess all I can say is STAY WARM!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! We are unusually chilly here and expecting to be down into the 30's this weekend but no snow. So jealous! Can you send some down to GA? Enjoy and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI will gladly let you be the lucky one! Haha! I had to laugh at the scarecrow and reindeer, they look especially humorous under the snow!
ReplyDeleteIt did snow here in Winnipeg for several hours yesterday, but with barely freezing temps it did not stick even on the foliage.
People out at parts of Lake Winnipeg got a foot of it though!
I'm so glad that we didn't. I'm just not ready for it yet. I'm wearing my boots, but it's for the cold. Brrr.
Hugs, Cindy
Oh, Kimberly!
ReplyDeleteSNOW!!!!!!!!
The tree in your backyard is beautiful. It looks all a glow with lights.
No snow here in the Pacific Northwest.
No snow here is East Texas and I'm guessing we probably won't see any all Winter long. :( We are still in the upper 70's around here! It seldom snows, but I do love it when it does. Your pics sure make me wish I lived up North..
ReplyDeletestay warm!
Shug
So much snow already? ! I'm not ready for that.
ReplyDeletewow...so hard for me to wrap my head around snow already...I am still in capri's and sandals..it is beautiful! I would love a little of that! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I saw that snow was predicted for the Great Lakes region and thought of you!
ReplyDeleteNo snow here yet.
No snow here yet, thankfully ! I always dread the bitterness of winter and am in no hurry to see autumn leave! I think your tree agrees, it's not quite time to give up on fall;)
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a very eclectic front porch. LOL She should probably have her Easter bunnies out there too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty! Considering how far north you are located, it's not surprising that you have gotten snow already. We won't be due any snow for a while yet. And we typically only get a couple throughout the whole winter!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I must move further north!
ReplyDelete: )
Oh wow, you already have snow. Our temps are dropping, that is for sure,so I won't be surprised if we get our first snow by Thanksgiving.
