When my husband pulled the bedroom curtain back this morning and said, "You're not going to believe this", I knew right away that it had to be snow.
And sure enough it was!
I have previously lived on Lake Superior, both on the Southern shore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the North shore here in Ontario, but I don't remember snow ever this early in the season.
My son had warned me that the weather forecast for this Winter was an early and a long one.
But really, this is ridiculous...
Now I have decided not to procrastinate any longer. I will
spend today going through those drawers and closets to switch out my Summer clothes for Winter ones.
Yes, I will!
And another thing on my mind... Has anyone started working on any Christmas gift projects yet?
This snow has certainly got me thinking that I should be getting started in that direction.
I'd love to hear your ideas!!
Oh my! It is early! They said it would be and they were talking about snow in the mountains already here in the western states. Even I, the snow lover, would not be ready. I have work to do outside yet. I'm in that in between season right now. Cool in the mornings and by afternoon I'm peeling off the layers.
ReplyDeleteI have started on the Christmas gifts..so far one scarf done and should finish that hat by the end of the week. I'm knitting but also have some faster items to make like wool applique and some sewing. My Pinterest boards are busting at the seams! LOL!
WOW! Snow already?! Still in the 100's over here...sigh, and I am soo done with it! lol I have been busy "in my head" tossing around ideas on what to do about Christmas, and feel somewhat frantic that I have begun with no one but ME! LOL I have bought some jammie patterns and a couple of pieces of fabric, but that's it...Yikes, I know it will be here before we know it. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWe are on opposite weather extremes. We are still in the triple digits. I don't think I'd be quite ready for snow either. Not even a thought about Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHooray for the snow :) Yes, I am a snow girl and would love to have an early snow here in the mountains. I remember when I lived by Lake Huron in Southampton, Ontario the winters could be very harsh and cold.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, sweet Kimberly :) Hugs!
Oh my, snow!! Mother Nature sure has got something mixed up! There is only 13 weekend for me to get Christmas projects completed. Yes, I have started.
ReplyDeleteGood night Irene! This is why I simply could not live any further North than I already do. It would be all over but the shoutin' if I looked out and saw snow this time of year! I am "thinking" about Christmas gift projects, which is usually the longest part of any project. Lol Stay warm my friend, I'm praying for a thaw for you!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Kimberly, Oh my word, snow in September.... beautiful, but a little too soon for me. My mother mentioned, that as there were a lot of rose hips and berries on bushes here in England, that normally means we are in for a hard winter... looks like she might be right.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I am making a Christmas quilt, half applique and half rail fence.... I have quite a way to go, but it will be finished in time for Christmas.
Keep yourself nice and warm.
Best Wishes
Daphne
I am with Stephanie, Yay! I love snow too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI also love Lake Superior. I find it amazing you live on her shores.
I have not started to work on any Christmas projects as of yet, but have been thinking of them.
Wow. That IS early. I'm kind of sensing it might be a long, cold one here, too!
ReplyDeleteAlmanac calls for long cold winter! I for one am not looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteOh, with it still hot I can't even begin to think of
ReplyDeleteChristmas. I can't believe you have snow like that now. It is too early I always thing October is early but September???
I guess you will have to put your clothes away and take out warm ones today with snow on the ground.
Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteSnow, I remember getting snow early many years ago while living up there. The weather men states to expect rain and humidity here for a couple of days, then a new cold front comes in bring temperatures back in the 50's for us.
I haven't thought about Christmas gifts yet. My plan though is to make the gifts. Possibly more apple butter, jewelry, breads, cookies that sort of thing.
Wowwie! You are the first blogger that I've read that has snow already!
ReplyDeleteI can wait for the snow.... I will just keep enjoying Fall for now :)
No thoughts about Christmas here.
Maybe I should start thinking about it ***smile**..
In my lifetime, I have only TWICE woken to snow on the lawn, two days in a row, in August 2011, when snow fell on almost all of New Zealand, big falls down south, and just a sprinkle in the northern areas, we had about 2 inches, and it was truly a fairy wonderland for me. Christmas, yes, and amazing for me to be ahead of anything, some projects are well under way. Lovely to know the snowman left his mark, so we all know he called in 2014. Cheers,Jean,.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness. Snow already. Yikes, it's still summer. Hope you warm up again. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteI saw that northern Ontario had snow last night. That's just too early but Calgary beat you this year. :) I'm not even thinking about Christmas yet but I don't craft gifts anyway so I guess one that does craft might need to get started. Stay cozy. (I can't believe I'm saying that already!) :)
ReplyDeleteU G H ! !
ReplyDeleteOh I really hope that your son is wrong, but we've been hearing the same things. And I hope that snow goes and doesn't come back before a more decent date.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW ! That is early ! Down here in southwestern Ontario by lake Erie it is lovely sunny fresh breezy fall weather ! Hope no more of that shows up there till it is time for it ! Thanks for sharing , have a good week !

I am sorry to say, I'm glad I wasn't the only one to get snow. You make me feel part of a club. Not a great club, but we are tough.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's hard to believe there is snow on the ground already...hope it doesn't last. Our Falls are just way to short.
