Do you remember the yellow dresser that I showed you last week? I told you how much I would like to transform my old nondescript dresser into something beautiful. This is what I ended up with.
The colour is not exact. Mine look like a lemony yellow. I haven't waxed my dresser yet, which I think might help to tone down the colour a bit.
What do you think? Is it better yellow than brown?
Well, I'm happy with it.
My husband couldn't understand why I would paint the dresser than turn around and scrap paint off of the dresser. I told him he's obviously not kept up on the latest décor styles. He admitted he has not. This dresser is my version of shabby chic, I told him. It was clearly obvious by his expression he had never heard of shabby chic. Can you believe that?
At that point I just gave up!
Sorry Kimberly, I like the wood, and maybe a satin finish on it would be perfect. But then, you like the painted look, and it must go well with everything else in your home. Well done to get that look, lots of hard work behind the lemony yellow.Hope all is well with you up North. Winter should have gone, and spring days well and truly giving you more sunshine and warmth. Hugs from NZ.
ReplyDeleteI love it and think you did a wonderful job with it! And yes, personally I like it much better painted. And that's not always true for me. Some pieces people paint seem like just a crime to me, but this isn't one of them, lol. It took it from a very ordinary piece of old furniture to a an up to date interesting pretty piece. Hope your day is a good one! OH, and sorry...I don't know a thing about your comment problems.
ReplyDeleteI have been anticipating you showing us this,, I love it, I would love to do a yellow piece for our house,, I think I might have found one and can't wait to try!! Yu gave me courage,,I have been having trouble leaving comments on a couple of blogs also and have found no answer to my problem, sorry, no help,,
ReplyDeleteYellow is my favorite color... That said, I hate painting so I'd not have been so brave. As to leaving comments...Yes! I am having a lot of trouble with three or four blogs. They must think I have given up on them. Is one of yours BJ's Sweet Nothings? No matter what I do...Frustrating!
ReplyDeleteTurned out great! Thanks for the share, would love to do something like this to my old dresser.

Your old dresser turned out great - looks much better in yellow - nice shabby chic look!
ReplyDeleteLots of work to that piece but well worth it for that "new" look!!

This is charming, Kim! It looks so cute with the blocks and garland!
ReplyDeleteDo you perhaps have a pop-up blocker or ad-blocker activated? Sometimes that sort of thing stops forms from showing up. You can selectively deactivate things like that for whatever pages you want to.
Charming yellow dresser my friend, I love it!!!!! Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out really well. You did a great job with it. I think the blog owner may need to adjust their settings, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteThe painted dresser has more character than the wood one, but both versions look good. Husbands rarely keep up on decorating trends, I've found (with mine, at least). I like the handles you've created - from fabric?
ReplyDeleteI've not had any trouble commenting on any blogs. What browser are you using? I use Chrome.
Are you logged on to Google when you try and comment? That's the only time I've had trouble but once in awhile it does happen and I reboot my pc. I also use CCLEANER to get rid of junk...it's a free software and I run it about once a day. It speeds things up too!
ReplyDeleteWell, to tell you what a good job you did on your dresser....I thought it was the same post so I didn't read it thinking I had already read it but that was the Pinterest dresser post. See? You did a great job!
LOVE this! I have a few pieces of furniture I want to antique and distress but I don't trust my own abilities! Your dresser looks amazing!
