Isn't this just adorable? In my de-cluttering process I ran across this memory album
I had bought. I decided to list it on my etsy shop. All of it's pages were blank, but one
little cut out newspaper poem fell out. I just have to share it with you.
"Things That Count"
Not what we have, but what we use,
Not what we see, but what we choose,
These things that mar or bless
The sum of human happiness.
The things nearby, not things afar,
Not what we seem, but what we are,
These are the things that make or break,
That give the heart its joy or ache.
Not what seems fair, but what is true,
Not what we dream, but what we do,
These are the things that shine like gems,
Like stars in fortune's diadems.
Not what we take, but what we give,
Not as we pray, but what we live,
These are the things that make for peace,
Both now and after time shall cease.
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. Have a wonderful weekend!
That little poem is very dear and so true. I love finding these sorts of treasures. For one thing, we don't talk this way anymore so it's unlikely to find things told in a straightforward, easy to understand way. I love going through my grandmother's old magazines and even her scrapbooks for such things. I have one in my sidebar even.
ReplyDeleteThat is very nice I see why you kept it.
ReplyDeleteJust precious, both of them, thanks Kimberly. Have a great weekend! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a dear poem...and I love the little book it was tucked away in. It is fun to come across those old things, isn't it? Thanks for the smile- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love the book cover and that poem is so true. I often find bits of wisdom or poetry in old books and I leave them right there where the owner wanted them to be.
ReplyDeleteLove all your "treasures" that you share with us.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend with the grandkids.
Now that is a treasure..I will have to copy it off...so enjoyed, thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteIsn't it the sweetest thing when things like that drop out of books and such. It meant something to someone at that time. Have a great weekend.
