Small Talk
I don't often do a post, friends, where I chitty chat or just shoot the breeze with you.
But today this will be such a post.
Why?
Because, as much as I hate to admit it, my mind is sort of blank of anything that seems very interesting to share.
Do any of you care that I watched these three movies last week and want to know how I would rate them?
You do!
Okay, great, now I have something I can talk to you about...
Let's start with Kidnapped-Five Stars
The acting and the scenery where both superb. I had seen it before many years ago and was glad that this version of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel was as good as I had remembered it.
Jane Eyre-Four Stars
This was a good enough watch, but it just didn't live up to my all time favourite version, starring Ciaran Hines as Mr. Rochester and Samantha Morton as Jane Eyre.
The 1997 version of Charlotte Bronte's novel will always be the true 'Jane Eyre' for me.
Under The Greenwood Tree-Three and a Half Stars
This was enjoyable enough...
And I didn't consider it to be a waste of my time.
But I found it to be a bit too cheesy for me.
Tim and I also watched several You tube movies this past week:
Two newer Miss Marple movies starring Julia McKenzie-I like her in this role.
Joan Hickson is my number one favourite Miss Marple, of course.
We watched a couple of the older Poirot movies.
You would think I would have them memorised as many times as I've seen all of the Poirot programs and movies, but I've found I don't remember every detail.
Thank goodness, so I still enjoyed them.
And lastly, on the lighter side, we've been watching our Mr. Ed DVDs.
Oh my gosh, I had forgotten how funny this show was.
I don't have to rate this for you, you already know how good it is, don't you?
Just so you know that I am not spending all of my evenings glued to the TV, I will be along real soon with a lamp project that I have been working on!
I bought a lamp shade much like the one above, and now I am rigging a dresser lamp to it to convert it in to a much needed swag light to hang over my reading area.
I think you'll like it...
I'll show you the finished product in a day or two.
Until then.....
Blessings-Kimberly
Ah yes, I like those old movies too, although I don't think I've seen the 1997 version of Jane Eyre. I'll have to check my stash and see. And since I love to watch movies based on recommendations from friends, I'll check out the others for a re-watch also. I LOVE period dramas, period. :-))
ReplyDeleteMorning, oh I loved Mr. Ed, now I want to watch reruns, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeletewe watch Midsomer and Piroit, Miss Marple, again and again, I always forget who the killer was, lol, your project looks very interesting!!I hope all is well,
ReplyDeleteKimberly, There are movies I could watch over and over. I love Jane Eyre, Little Women, Whethering Heights and English movies of all types. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOh I want to watch Kidnapped now! I know my hubby and I would both love it...we loved the book! We finished up the Lark Rise series and was so sorry to have it end. We got wrapped up in the characters of course and now wonder how they are getting on! lol It's so hard to find really good things to watch. We end up watching our own DVDs...over and over again! Thanks for the reviews! And I love your project! Looks good!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I enjoy "chatty" posts myself, haha. You have talked me into kidnapped for sure. We are always looking for a good movie. Looking forward to seeing the finished lamp project! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteOf the three movies you mention, I have only seen Jane Eyre, I'll have to look the others up, maybe watch while I'm working on orders:>) I still remember Mr. Ed from watching it when I was little, I loved that show as a child!
ReplyDeleteI have seen none of these movies...I'm only interested in the one that you give five stars. ☺ If you say it ain't no good, I'm taking your word for it.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the lamp tutorial.
Oh, do I hear you on the, drawing a blank as to what to write. I think we are go through times like that.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch a lot of movies, so it's great to get reviews. Thank you!
I'm not much of a t.v. watcher.... but I love to watch movies.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your project.
Smiles :)
Kerin
I do believe I will now check out Kidnapped :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Thanks for rating the movies, Kimberly. I am always on the look-out for something new. I will check out Kidnapped. I liked Jane Eyre and also the Poirot movies.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your lampshade!
Hi Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteI also saw that version of 'Jane Eyre', and thought it was okay, but didn't compare to the very first version I had seen, which was a 2006 British miniseries, starring Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens.
Hmm. That lampshade project looks very interesting!

I don't think I've seen any of these movies but they would be wonderful to watch I'm sure. They would all interest me. I love the lampshade frame used to display photos. That is a pretty cool idea! I hope you're having a great week.
ReplyDeleteWell we have the same taste is movies. Only my favorite Jane version is the older one with Timothy Dalton which is from BBC 1983
ReplyDeleteI have been on a Poirot kick too.
I have never watched Midsummer Murders just because I was sort of afraid of it, in case it was too gory.
Anyway, I like your movies you watch.
Your lampshade is going to be wonderful.
Hubby loves Poirot movies... We see them occasionally. AND--we both love the old Perry Mason dramas/mysteries...
ReplyDeleteHubby and I watch alot of dramas on TV... We still love the Law and Orders, the CSI's, NCIS, etc. etc. etc.
Hugs,
Betsy
Old movies have none of the modern violence, give me " The Sound of Music" again and again. Last week I saw " Philomena" a very special dear friend gave me the DVD, and one early morning Hugh and I watched this, by the fire. Pure total enjoyment. Hugs, Jean.
ReplyDeleteOf course I care !! :) I'm glad you're relaxing and enjoying some movie time. Can't wait to see the lampshade!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love old movies too.
We have not watched the three you gave reviews on. I will put them on the watch list.
Love your movie reviews, Kimberly. I am that way with Columbo movies. I watch one just about every night when I go to bed-I have every one ever aired. There is comfort in those old favorites to me- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Kidnapped, just the photo reeled me in! Looking forward to seeing your completed lamp project. Have a nice afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of those, but would like to see Jane Eyre. I don't get much movie watching time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the movie ratings as I never watch them much and when I do I never know what to watch. I wrote those down so now I know! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love the lamp shade with the pictures...what a great idea. I can't wait to see your swag lamp.
your choices of movies are always worth watching -- and I've seen all these too.. great watch..
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the lamb finished - wink!
