It's Futile Friday today...
I know it would be absolutely useless to think that I'm going to get even a single thing accomplished today.

Yesterday we made the long haul, or the marathon trip as I call it, down to the Soo (Michigan's side) to return Starlet.
She is off now on a new adventure to spend a few days of fun at her girlfriends family cabin on the Muskelon Lake in the U.P.
I must admit I was feeling pretty lonely last night when I'd lost my T.V. buddy!
Every night we had our routine of watching two Mr. Ed shows on video (she now has the theme song to that down pat), and then a new Austrailia cooking competition which I had never heard about before called My Kitchen Rules.
Of course we had to have our ice cream every night too.
Some nights I made a chocolate sauce for the ice cream, one night she blended hers into a strawberry milkshake, and then the last night we made a chocolate cream pie to share instead.
Oh yes, we were never without out our goodies!

We didn't do anything others might consider exciting; no amusement parks or fairs to attend.
We just spent our lazy days fishing and swimming together, playing cards and some Scrabble, and then threw in a little time for crafting and cooking.
All in all I had a blast.
I am really missing my little partner so I think I'll just grab a glass of tea and head out to the porch to read my latest magazine splurge-best of flea market style.
I bet that will cheer me up a bit!

Oh, I know that it will be a long weekend for you . . . I used to count the minutes when my Autumn Rose was a little girl and went away for a few days. I love that you spend simple pleasured time together. These are memories that she will hold in her heart forever :)

I loved Mr. Ed when I was Starlet's age! What a hoot to think today's kids still find him entertaining. I'm glad you had so much fun, I bet she did too. Memories that will last a lifetime :>)

Those actually sound like the best of times - simple pleasures together. I won't watch that Mr. Ed video because I can already hear the theme song in my head. LOL Hope the weekend goes well and if you get nothing accomplished, then we will have yet another thing in common. LOL

ReplyDeleteOh does this grandma's heart ever here you this afternoon! Soo fun, and soo special! You've had the best kind of visit in my opinion. Lots of time for chatting and dreaming together just enjoying one another's company. Memories she'll have now for the rest of her life. The magazine sounds like a good distraction. ReplyDeleteI was touched by your sweet post about your granddaughter. My Ginger Grand is only 3 and he stole my heart from the moment he arrived! I can also relate to the longing--they moved out of state several months ago and as much as I am thankful for Face Time, it doesn't compare to weekly sleepovers. Starlet will have gone home with lots of wonderful memories and you can get together via Skype or FaceTime and remember them all.

A horse is a horse of course, of course, and nobody talks to a horse, of course, unless of course the name of the horse is the famous Mr. Ed!
