Do moose eat geraniums? I hope not! I really just wanted to show you how
nicely they are doing now that I've brought them inside to winter.
I know some of you other gals have brought your geraniums in also. How are yours faring?
It's still rainy here. 42 degrees right now. The wood stove is blazing and I'm cozying in!
What are you up to today?
I have a big geranium that is about 4 or 5 years old. I brought it in that first winter and it did well so I have put it out and brought it in every year since.
ReplyDeleteIt's till outside at the moment, but I will probably bring it in this week.
I don't put it right where we sit though, because geraniums don't really have a pleasant scent.
Yours looks nice!
~cathy
I think I brought my own in a little late....but they are surviving. We'll see how they do over the next few weeks! Yours look wonderful! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYour geranium is so pretty, if I have one that hasn't frozen yet, I should try that.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the idea.
Hugs, Cindy
They took well to the move. I have tried to move mums in with no success:(
ReplyDeleteThe rain is supposed to start here today and be pretty miserable for quite some time. I took care of everything on my porches this morning that couldn't take the winter weather.
I think snow is right around the corner.
I'm cleaning up a vintage stove top and baking cookies. I'm glad to see your geranium looking so spunky. Mine got put back outside once the weather moderated. I'll bring it in and cut it back when it gets colder again.
ReplyDeleteWow 42 degrees? How nice to be all snuggled in though. It is going to be 90 today, I am in shorts and a short sleeve shirt and my windows and doors are open. You flowers looks so pretty. I thought maybe a real moose came and ate your geraniums. Aren't they mean? Moose not geraniums. :) I am glad it wasn't a real one. One of my friends lived in Alaska and a moose would wait and chase the kids to school each day.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun day in your warm house. I am looking forward to those days in...January. :)
Your geraniums are doing great! We didn't bring any plants indoors this year. The frost got to my rosemary; that was one of the herbs that I wanted to save.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a beautiful Indian summer day! It's a good thing too... we still have a lot of preparations to do before winter sets in.
Oh that sounds delightfully cozy. No need to move the geraniums here. We rarely ever get below freezing.
ReplyDeleteI love geraniums in a window and your red one is gorgeous. I was just thinking I should go out and bring my salmon pink one in. See you later. (I'll take a photo)
ReplyDeleteOh I would love to "have" to move our geraniums in, but it just isn't necessary here. A cozy rainy day sounds wonderful. We are in the mid 70's here. Beautiful really, so I am not complaining. I love where you have your geranium, and your moose! haha....Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteWe're having cooler temps...No geraniums here. I gave up growing anything this year due to the drought and the grasshoppers (eating everything) but...I am wanting to bring something inside for the fall. Need some color and freshness.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had to bring firewood in yet, either. But can't wait to fire up the stove!
Your geraniums are pretty, Pat
The geraniums are beautiful. So red! I am bushed from spending the day with 20 eight year olds. I need a good solid vacation. The weather is cooler here. I'd love to start a fire and cozy up as well!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look great inside. And I love the container you have them in. We still have ours outside but there is a danger of our firts frost this weekend. Mr. P. always pulls ours up, leaving the dirt on the roots and puts them in brown paper sacks and sticks them under the house. In the spring, he plants them and they come back great. Your weather today is my kind of day. Hoping for one like that on Thursday. I love the first fire in the fireplace. Have a cozy evening.
ReplyDeleteAngela
Ha ha ha. :o) That is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for chilly days.
Your geraniums look like they are doing great. Red geraniums always make me think of my Grandma. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I never have luck with geraniums, and I love them too.
ReplyDeleteI can never get my geraniums to over winter well with being under grow lights and have given up on them:( Must buy them if I want to grow them that season. Yours look very healthy:)
ReplyDeleteThe moose is so cute and your geraniums look beautiful. I have one geranium left which is in with another plant. I need to get it repotted because it is getting too much water to bloom. Most of the plants (including the geranium) were moved in about 3 weeks ago. The furnace has been kicking on tonight. Feels good. (Oh, I so miss the wood burning stove.)
ReplyDeleteI tried taking in geranium plants once but they didn't survive :(
ReplyDeleteI am in San Francisco today and it was foggy and cool...quite a difference from the rest of my trip!
We haven't had to fire up our wood stove yet, but my husband does need to get busy chopping wood!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwww... So cute.
ReplyDeleteI don't even try to bring any flowers in. But best of luck to you, and this project. :-)
Rain due here today, also. Upper NE.
Gentle hugs,
"October, here’s to you. Here’s to the heady aroma of the frost-kissed apples, the wine-y spell of ripened grapes, the wild-as-the-wind smell of hickory nuts and the nostalgic whiff of that first wood smoke." ~ Ken Weber
I stood and debated about over wintering my geraniums and it felt so terrible to tear them out while they were still so beautiful. I just didn't have any window space to put them. .so they came out and went and sat in a heap. .so sad.
ReplyDeleteI hope to finish the little coats I'm working on and then the kids will come for supper.
I love geraniums...I remember my grandmother always growing them and I thought they were beautiful...Hope they do well for you..
ReplyDeleteShug
I love geraniums, but I never had any luck with them indoors. Let us know how yours do this year.
ReplyDeleteI planted geraniums in my wooden moose planter outside! I am getting ready to bring my geraniums inside (I have to transplant the one in the moose planter as the planter is too big to have indoors!).
ReplyDeleteOh I've had fun browsing your blog! I especially love this red geranium in the cooper container on the windowsill. I'm so very much going to copy this idea! Is it safe to assume there are no drainage holes? Just gravel on the bottom?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and yes, you are correct: we're two peas in a pod. . . . one Northern and one Southern! ;)
