My Favorite Pastime Lately

My favourite pastime of late has been watching old (1938-1940's) Agatha Christie movies or listening to her mysteries read on tape.
I do both through youtube. They have a large selection of both.

Now I'm not just sitting while I do this.
Oh no, no, no...

Last week I finished the kitchen curtains that I had told you I was making. They turned out nicely.
I'm sorry I don't have any picture to share right now, but I will describe them to you at least.

The material is a large lime green buffalo check fabric. I made the curtains by the kitchen table long with ruffles and the curtain over the kitchen sink is a ruffled valance that's gathered vertically in two places.
I hope you can visualise that!!
This will be a true test in just how good my writing skills are now, right?

Then over the weekend I had my baking day. I do this every other weekend.
I like to get a weeks worth of baking done in one day.
This weekend I made Chicken Enchiladas, Meatloaf,  a Bacon and Broccoli Quiche, Rhubarb Galette and Coconut Macaroons.
I realise that this isn't enough dishes to last a week, but I'm fortunate enough to have a husband who doesn't mind cooking also!

Since Tim's mother and sister are here visiting, we drove over to Lake Superior last Thursday.

You might remember these photos from last year when just Tim and I were there.
It was a gorgeous day this time around too!
We enjoyed climbing the rocks, searching for a few blueberries, and just soaking in the sun's rays while we visited.

On a more serious note; our daughter is going in for a small surgery on Wednesday.
I would so appreciate your prayers that all goes well and that she will have a quick recovery too.
Many thanks to all of you-Kimberly

Secondly--I'm loving reading your blog, and seeing the creativity that you are having with your post without a camera! You've shown me a post CAN be a beautiful thing with out all the visual aid! :)

take care. And enjoy the books on you tube. I may have to try that out myself. You didn't include a link.

  10. I will be praying for your daughter, Kimberly. I enjoyed your photos of Lake Superior. We have not been up to the lake yet this year, but it is a favorite destination. We've just been too busy. Maybe this fall. I do love going to Superior/Duluth in the fall. The lake seems like an ocean it's so huge.

I too love to listen to old movies or whatnot while I'm working. I just came in from picking the green beans in the garden (14# worth!) and listened to a Rick Steves podcast on my phone. In the kitchen, I like to listen to old Campions or Miss Marples or Hercule Poirot, or some mystery I know by heart so I don't have to look at the monitor and can enjoy the audio part. :-)

  13. I will be thinking of your daughter and wish her well.

I too look at old movies or listen to books while I work. If I just watched the movie, I would fall asleep, but keeping my hands busy is productive.
