My Dream Home-An Authentic Farmhouse

source
Now that Tim and I have our home on the market every few days one of us is surfing MLS to look for a farmhouse. Tim happened across this one. It is not in my budget but I love it!
This is a true and authentic farmhouse. My goodness it even has a wringer washer in the corner of the kitchen. Imagine that.
I thought it may be an Amish home. The electric stove in the kitchen and the ceiling fan tell me otherwise.

Look at this kitchen, will you?
My, oh my. Be still my heart......
Take in that gorgeous wood burning cook stove, the old kitchen table and chairs, the waincoating cabinets and the cabinets with the chicken wire fronts.
I am only sharing four photos with you. If  you would like to see every photo of this home please click on 'source' under any of the pictures and it will take you to the realtor's site.

I once had a claw foot tub and I am very partial to them. I can attest that they are quite comfy! Notice the drainage pipe covered in wallpaper? I've had these in my home and never knew quite what to do with them.

This is one of four bedrooms. My favourite features here are the wainscoting ceiling and the wrought iron bed. Although my taste in decor would be different, I think that the room is still lovely.

Something not so lovely to show you......
We had a light snow this morning.

I do have two sweet crocus that have bloomed and a few tulips throughout the yard that are showing promise. Spring is here (I'm tapping my red slippers together).
Now I will let you run along to check out my dream house. I'm not coveting it, just appreciating the home. Really!
Blessings-Kimberly

  1. In my youth, that certainly would be a dream home...sweet, sweet kitchen! In my old age, I'm dreaming of single story cottages. Ha! All the best with the sale of your home.

  3. Oh I wanted to say that there is a once gorgeous home in our community selling for $10, 000. I hope that someone buys it and restores it to its former glory. And the really bad home in my own neighborhood has been bought. The new owners have a big, beautiful camper in the drive and a huge dumpster on the front lawn. I have high hopes for that one, too. It had gotten so bad that I signed a petition for the town to buy that home to get the very bad homeowners (druggies) out of there.

    1. Truthfully, I don't want a home this large, but I love the style.

  6. You and I have the same tastes for sure! It has everything I would want too! The main features are there and just a little decorating in some of those rooms and how adorable! I too love what they did with the post in the bathroom and between the tub and the toilet there is a lidded porcelain "pot" and I have one just like it. It was used in the night so they wouldn't have to go to the outhouse. My farmhouse had the same bead board ceiling but only in the hallway leading to the basement and on the walls halfway up. I love it! I had one put in the laundry room too but it was pricey for quite a small room. I pinned lots of pictures as there were so many features and great ideas. Did you see that pantry? LOVE! And the screen door to the laundry room? I also loved the stainless top on an old cupboard in the laundry room...oh....you made my morning! Where are you moving to? TYFS! Have a great day!

    1. Not sure that this will get to you. All my e-mail responses to you come back undeliverable. Your older home sounds like it was one I would like too.

  7. That farmhouse kitchen is so pretty. I'd love to live in an old farmhouse, but it will likely never happen and I'm very happy with my current home. But it is nice to dream a little. Hope you find one you really love.

  8. It really is a beautiful home. I always loved looking at homes when we were in the market. You get so many ideas! Hope it warms up soon! We were cooler today...only in the low 80s. lol But it's what we expect this far South. Enjoy your evening! Wish I could go with you to house hunt. Hugs, Diane

    1. You can't find the character in new homes that these old houses had, for sure.

  13. What I wouldn't give up . . . huddling by the stove in winter, listening to the wind and snow whistling outside, reading books in that snug bed with the windows open in summer. I think I agree about those wainscoting ceilings; they definitely give the room that essential rustic vibe that makes the house what it is. Quite cool!
