Pic Monkey Photo Play

  Pic Monkey Photo Play

I really didn't know what to post for today....
I have many photos from the Yukon that I know you've seen before, but I thought it might be interesting to play with them in Pic Monkey just to kick them up a notch.
BAM!

I certainly thought you might find it more interesting than hearing me whine about how much my feet are aching  right now!

You can see how I'm trying to copy cat that wonderful iphone app so many of you have.
But honestly, I don't think I've seen anything yet that can beat Waterlogue!

I also wanted to share with you a most impressive post that I visited today.
Get ready to learn your ABC's all over again in a very fun and creative way.
Check out Cottage ABC's .

Pansy Pattern

The Graphic Fairy

Don't you think Pansies are beautiful?

almanac.com

I'm not home to plant a garden this summer, but if I were I think it would have to contain a few Pansies.

Do you have your nails done?
How about Pansies nails for Spring?

I have no real Pansies to share with you, but I did find a Pansy embroidery pattern in my 1940's collection.
Just click on the picture and save if you've a notion to sew this lovely bouquet!
Now don't say I never give you anything....

Now for the results on the question I presented to all of you about whether you would wallpaper your walls again.

Pray!

Dear Friends, please know that I take every request for prayer from you seriously.
And consider it a privilege to go before the Lord on your behalf.
I am also so blessed in knowing too that should I need prayer on my behalf, you are there for me.

Where could I go?
Where could I go?
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend to help me in the end
Where could I go, but to the Lord?

Decorating With Wallpaper

I wanted to do a post on decorating with wallpaper because I have always loved wallpaper and wondered if any of you feel the same as I do.

I believe that decorating with wallpaper went out of fad a few years back.
Obviously if using wallpaper you had better love whatever pattern or design you have chosen, since it is far more expensive than paint and you will be living with it for some time!

I have noticed that the UK  designers are decorating with wallpaper much more freely than we are on this side of the pond.

Many times they decorate only one wall.
The wallpaper is used as an accent wall behind a bed, for instance, or for the surround of a fireplace wall.

I've done a lot of decorating with wallpaper in the 1980's and 1990's.
And I did most of the hanging myself!
Oh yes, I could give you all kinds of wallpapering tips, my friends.
I don't know about you, but I'm ready to welcome wallpaper back into my home again.
Are you? Would you maybe do just one wall in your home? Or are you completely done with wallpaper, as I thought I was those many years ago?
I'll let you know tomorrow what the verdict is...

Social Media Marketing for Dummies

I bet when you read my title, 'Social Media Marketing for Dummies' you thought that you were going to get some wonderful advice on how to promote you blogs world wide, didn't you?

Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you.
But I think all of you who have been my long time and loyal (thank you) followers know that I'm the last person to offer much advice about Social Media Marketing!

Just to prove to you that I'm no dummy, I'm sharing with you my most recent book purchase about Social Media Marketing.
I bought this volume in Whitehorse at the Fireweed Bookstore for 30 percent off.
See, I'm pretty smart after all...

I want you to know that when I become an expert in this field I will be more than happy to share all of my vast knowledge with you, my friends!
Did I hear a few yawns out there?

Not that I think any of you are dummies.
Oh no, no, no.
Without your help I wouldn't know half of the stuff about blogging that I know now.

Well, I'm off to bed now.
I'm going to need my rest if I'm going to get through all 770 pages of this book!

Please tell me first if you have ever purchased a book for dummies?

Tok Alaska Part 2

While travelling to Tok Alaska on the Purple Heart Trail I spotted this old abandoned cabin.
I always wish I could learn the story of the builder of these homes when I see them.

It's not at all that unusual to see cabins similar to this one or even whole derelict businesses along the road sides here in the Yukon and Alaska.
I often wonder what happened...
Where did the builders go and why did they leave?

I am partial to cabins, so you will  find me taking photos of them whenever I have the chance.

Okay, now this may not interest you in the least, but I was astonished to see that these old time telephone poles are still in use.

Can you see the old time insulators on this pole?
I have several of these I keep thinking I'm going to recycle into a candle holder lamp.
I bet you have a few of these insulators around your
place too!

Isn't it amazing how this is practically laying on it side and still functioning?
We even saw a couple of post that were covered half  way up with water!

This shot is my attempt to show a whole series of poles as they lean towards the ground.
I'm sure it must be the tautness of the lines that keeps these post still standing.

And that, my friends, is my first venture into Alaska this year.
It's a bit drab yet, but still full of beauty!

Tok Alaska Drive

After crossing the Alaska/Yukon border yesterday, we started our trip to the small community of Tok Alaska on the Purple Heart Trail.

Here is the mountain view as we're nearing Tok.
It was a beautiful day. It was 12C and most of the snow along the roads has melted now.
It hasn't turned green yet, but I've got a feeling it won't be long!

We ate lunch at Fast Eddy's Restaurant.
It is located at 1313 on the Alaskan Hwy.
This means it is located 1313 miles from the beginning of the Alaskan Hwy in Dawson Creek, BC

I would've liked to have packed this chandie up with me and taken it home!
Somehow I think I might have gotten caught trying to sneak it out.

Can you tell by the look on Tim's face that he thought I was a little desperate when I told him I was going to post photos of our sandwiches?

I assured him everyone does this.
Besides this was a most unusual sandwich!
Teriyaki Chicken
It was a chicken breast topped with Teriyaki sauce, Pineapple, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion.
And yes, it was yummy.

Stay tuned...
I have a few other photos from our little day trip.
I don't want to overload you today!

Beaver Creek

We have arrived where we will be working for the summer.
I thought, for now until I have time to explore the community myself, you might enjoy this video that was made by a local.

We are going to drive over to Tok Alaska tomorrow for a few groceries, then start  working on Tuesday.

I can't close without sharing with you our

day of colouring eggs with the g'children. We had an egg hunt and all kinds of fun before we left.

Oh, how hard it was to leave these kiddies!
Of course, it's that way with all of the grand children.

Thank you all for being such a sport and following me on this summers journey.
I hope I can make it half way interesting for you!
Blessings to all-Kimberly

A Ukrainian Easter Egg

Did you know that the Ukrainians are known for their intricate decorating of Easter eggs, which are better known as Pysanka's?

Tim and I passed this huge depiction of a Ukrainian egg in the small Alberta town of Vegreville.

So since I can't be home to show you any lovely Easter displays, ladies, this will be my contribution this year.

Do you have your reading glasses on, because you may need them to actually see what it is that I'm trying to show you here!

Can you guess what it is?

In this photo I feel certain that you can see them better....
Yes, it is Sea Gulls all flying South passing through Alberta.
There were so many that I could not possibly get them in my camera scope!
If I had not been in shock at seeing the masses I might have had the presence of mind to try the panorama setting on my camera.

I discovered that it's not only Geese that form v's when they fly.

So neat!
**********************************************************************************

Today we have at least a ten hour drive.
We are driving Fort St. John BC  to Watson Lake Yukon.

This is where the mountain driving begins.
The weather forecast looks good.
Who knows, I may have a chance to get some animal photos to share with you tomorrow!
I hope you're having a great day-Kimberly

Family Fun

Miss Lexy

Hello Friends

I'm sorry that I've been out of the loop for the last few days.
Tim and I have been having a blast enjoying and playing with our Alberta grandchildren.

We've been playing a lot of games together.

Then we had the funny face challenge too.

Fun at the park!

The grands thought Papa was much better than Nannie at pushing them high in the swings.
Naturally!

And lastly, a tuckered out family after a day of fun.

I'll be back with more photos tomorrow.

We will be leaving here then, so we have only one more day to spoil these darlings.

So I'd better get to it...

Blessings-Kimberly

A Happy Rock and a Happy Traveler

                                      Hello Friends
This morning we passed this cute town statue in Gladstone Manitoba.
Get it? Glad Stone/Happy Rock

This isn't my photo as somehow my camera got buried.
Tim will be uncovering  it tomorrow even if he has to tear the car apart because that is when we arrive in Alberta to visit with our oldest son and his family.
And I am not going to miss getting photos of our darling grandchildren!

We are spending the night in Saskatoon.
I am going to do a wee bit of shopping in the morning before we take off for our son's home.

An elderly fellow at one of the service stations told me that there was an Alberta Clipper heading this way. I sure hope he's wrong!

I did want to thank all of you again for your prayers and sweet comments.
I so appreciate them!

Blessings-Kimberly

BTW, has anyone changed their Google password yet?
I was going to, but I thought that I had read that someone had trouble with their blog after changing their Google password.
If you would let me what you are doing about this
I would sure appreciate it.

On The Road Again

Well, the VW is packed and by the time you read this we will be on our way!

My sweet neighbour lady has our key, the house is cleaned, the alligators are hungry, and I'm ready to roll.

Thank you to those of you who have offered up a prayer for our safe travels.
We do appreciate it.

I'll be in touch-Kimberly

FYI-None of those beautiful VW Vans belong to me!
But wouldn't that be a wonderful way to travel?

Your Favorite Apron Was.....

Hippidy Hop

Yes, much to my surprise, the Easter apron was the  favourite one chosen by all of you.

The second favourite was the red one. This is my favourite of the  styles too.
I heard from  Vee  that this is also known as a pinny apron.
 Short for pinafore, I'm guessing.
We always called it a smock apron in the Mid-West were I was raised.
Now don't ask me why, because it's certainly not smocked at all.

This is all I have to offer today.
I've got to finish packing today and start my house cleaning.

I have spoken to the neighbours and all is set for them to do a house check while we are away.
I guess that is one advantage to having very close neighbours!
We have also set up other measures to see that it's well protected.
Like the moat Tim has dug around the house that is livid with alligators.
Yes, no worries this time...
Have a great day-Kimberly

Vintage Style Aprons

I'm happy to say that I have finished my Vintage Style aprons yesterday.

I am going to show you all three of my aprons and I would like for you to tell me which one you like best!

I didn't have a pattern for any of my Vintage Style aprons.
I copied styles from several different aprons that I already owned and put them together into something that I liked.

You probably remember that this fabric was my favourite of all of the others.
It still is!

A closer look...

This was the first one I made.
As you know, I've named it the Easter apron.

I can't help it, every time I see this one "Here Comes Peter Cottontail hop in down the Bunny trail' keeps going through my mind.
Then me, this almost sixty year old lady wearing anklets and my Mary Janes, skipping along a wooded path.

So crazy, I know.

Anyway, I had hoped to get a fourth apron finished too but my time for sewing has just run out.

Today I pack all the crafts/sewing items I want to take with me, get my hair done, and then get back home in time to do laundry for the last of our clothes packing for tomorrow.

I'm feeling dizzy just thinking about all that needs to be done.

It's 12:35 AM, so I'd better get off to bed if I plan to be worth two cents in the morning.

Blessings-Kimberly

A Good Reminder

It's not a Bible verse, but an excellent word I think!

If you find yourself with some extra time today and would like to take a quiz to discover your decorating style, click on the link below.
I can't say I was really too surprised to discover that my decorating preference is 'Rustic'.

Have fun!
