A Day of Disorder

I awoke this morning with my day all nicely planned.
I didn't get very far into it before it became apparent that my plans were going to have to take a detour....
I was going to devote the day to putting the finishing touches on my new WP blog so I can finally begin blogging from there.
When I went to log on it didn't accept my passwords.
Three times it didn't accept my password!
So a quick note to the designer and now I wait until she has the time to get back to me.

I had a choice to make, I could either let this ruin my day or put on my Doris Day face (Que Sera Sera) and get on with it. I do have a kazillion other projects around the house I could (should) be working on, after all.

I did make it to Home Hardware and the local grocery to purchase my herbs and flowers to plant this last weekend. I've decided to concentrate on developing a perennial garden this year.
I don't mind buying annuals for the hanging flower pots, but I would like to have the front flower beds filled with something that returns on it's own every year.
Less expense and less work!

See this mess?
While I'm busy twiddling my thumbs trying to decide which task to do next.....

this fellow is hard at work on the latest unnecessary (his words, not mine) project I've come up with for our kitchen.
I quickly snapped this photo, then fled left, least I hear any muttering coming out of his mouth!

My default project for today is ironing.
My youtube audio book for today is 'The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax'.
And then, of course, listening to Doris for a little inspiration and uplifting.

Hope you're having an amazing Monday!

  1. Good for you, Kim! A perennial garden will be wonderful and hints at your remaining there long enough to enjoy it. Hope that your fairy blogmother is able to set things to rights! (Hope we get to see what he is grumbling about.)

  2. The best laid plans of mice and men...

I love perennials. I rarely do annuals and haven't for years unless it's seeds from what I have gathered.

    Have a great day.

  3. So easy to be thrown off balance when a plan gets disrupted. Love those pots on the barrow, and perennials, such an easy way to go, will they grow again after a winter's snow and ice?

  4. Sounds like even though the day isn't going how you planned...it's still going! Lots of fun projects...hope you get the blog stuff straightened out soon!

  5. A perennial garden is a bit less work, I found some really great bargains at the end of the season a few years ago at our Farmers Market. Perennials for $1 each! I don't know if you have a Farmers Market nearby, but you might want to check it out if you do. Usually around July they figure that the bedding plants aren't in such high demand and clearance them out. Your kitchen is so pretty, I wonder what your project is!

  6. Well sometimes days are just like that aren't they?
Your flowers look lovely, I would be enjoying having a day outside like that.
I hope you get to do all that you want to do.

  7. Beautiful flowers! Perennial plants are so nice to have in the gardens... not only for convenience, but you can often divide them over and over again, and get more plants to use or give away :)
May the rest of this week smooth out for you, and you are able to get all of the things done, that you'd like to do .

  8. I agree that a perennial garden is better and cheaper in the long run, especially if you have friends willing to share their plants! I hope you get your blog issues worked out. That is so frustrating. Now, you have us wondering what Tim is building for the kitchen. :) Have fun in the garden.

  11. ...quickly snapped this photo, then FLED!
    BWAHAHAHAHA!
I completely understand that statement...on so many levels.
You have lots of projects to choose from, I'm the same exact way.
So much to do, so little time. In your case, the plants take precedent...because of the short season!
I have to go and find an audio of Doris Day singing this song now! this particular link has been blocked from viewing ' IN MY COUNTRY'... ;/
have a wonderful day Kimberly! (almost over now)
PS. HOPE YOU GET THE WP BLOG WORKING SOON!

  14. We to had planted more perennials this year as we are also getting away from lots of annuals for the same reason to much $$$ to be doing it every year lol ! My hubby loves making things and is always wanting to help build anything with wood in his wood work shop and that's what we have been doing the past few weekends building stuff lol ! Lovely photos . Thanks for sharing , have a good week !

  15. I love Mrs Polifax stories, have read many of them. Perennials are the best way to go with the garden as annuals are getting so expensive each year. I don't plant many but do have a couple of hanging baskets and then my tipsy pots and buckets and one big pot of shade plants.

  16. I do love that saying and that attitude, and that song sung by Doris Day, lol. I'll be watching to see what he is working on...I ALWAYS pick ironing last, lol. Hope the rest of your week is good!

  17. Kimberly,

Making plans sometimes just doesn't work out. Don't let not being able to sign on your WP account ruin or consume your day. Continue on planting, harassing hubby, lol.....(just teasing), and ironing.

  18. Doris Day face, I love it! I need to remember that. Great photos. Can't wait to hear about that "un" necessary project. :)

  19. You are smart to get perennials. They're more expensive but not in the long run. Your flowers are so pretty.
My kitchen looked like that this morning after I cleaned it up too! I started cleaning out a bedroom that was just a big junk closet and feel good as I have all kinds of recycling for tomorrow and filled up some garbage bags too but I messed up my kitchen in the process! lol! I have read several Mrs. Pollifax books and loved them! I didn't know they had audio books on You Tube! I'll go take a peek! Thanks!
If you can, read or get the audio for Half Broke Horses....excellent! True story of a pioneering woman.
