Design Style

Do you have a favorite design style? I'm afraid I
love many different styles. But I don't necessarily
love them for my home.
It's that time of year when I'm stuck in the house
and I begin to notice all kinds of little projects that
I said I was going to do, but never did.
Midwest Living 2007

Like repainting the yellow walls that I knew I
hated the day after I had painted them-2 years ago!
ML 2007
Today I finally painted those walls. Tomorrow I
will work on the hallway. It's a start, ladies!
I can't really put a label on what my design style
is, but I know what I love. Give me old pictures,
antlers, pine cones, birch logs, birds nest, fungus
that I've gathered, old furniture and curtains with
great, big flowers on them! Obviously a lot of natural elements.
Now that I've shared with you my inspiration photos for decorating my home.
Tell me, what things do you love to fill your home with?

gales we'll see from the lake today. I'll keep you
posted.

  2. Kim,
So glad you have painted your yellows walls that you don't like. That is a long time to live with a hated color. I bet the new color is making you happy. My style is Farmhouse Vintage. If that is such a thing:)

  7. I think I am a lot like you I love the big flowery fabric. but rustic wood bowls and a coffee table out of a big chunk of wood. I like white walls with colored trim. My living room has white walls and a nice dark blues green trim called spruce,I just love it the room is bright with color in all the right places.

  8. Great post,Kimberly. I'm with you- I love to look at all kinds of styles and dream about them but I keep coming back to an understated muted look that suits me well. Have a great weekend- xo Diana

  9. I've never figured out what my style is though I keep trying. I have what I have because it was free or given to me. When I bring things home, it is because they are cheap. I guess that I'm a decorating nightmare.

I often think of this or that style that I could be perfectly at home in this or that room, but would never actually have it, if that makes any sense. I'll leave that for the DIYers and the beautiful people. I'm neither.

  10. Well glad you got those walls painted, two years is a LONG time if you hated them, haha. I have always been going to try yellow, but never have. What style is mine? I don't know! haha Guess I would say it is kind of a comfy, Victorian country...is there such a thing? Love the magazine pics. Enjoy your day!

  11. I love all kinds of different styles but most of them I just don't feel I can do...however, I love my rustic country very vintage home. I am very eclectic, some new, lots of old and I mix them all up!

Thanks for sharing...can't wait to see the new color...I love color and have a fair amount of it in my home...it so warms things up!

  12. I love the images in these photos you've collected. If I lived in your log house I would go for natural elements too and plaid and rustic with some vintage thrown in. However, my style is traditional cottage even though my house is a simple split entry or raised bungalow, depending on what you call it where you live. lol I love vintage, antiques, china and coziness and light. I hope you will share some pics of your newly painted home. Enjoy the weekend!

  13. I'm not sure what my design style is. I know I like a lot of flowers. I like cozy homemade afghans and quilts too. It does seem like there are always projects waiting for us that need to be done. I hope you have a nice weekend!

  16. I'm a little bit country, I'm a little bit rust and recycled. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I know I love it so. Okay, so I changed the lyrics a little to an old Donny Osmond song. But I think that me, country, rust, recycled and old!!!

  17. I love all things that look like they might be in a cabin in the northwoods. At this time, my job and life are in the city, but my heart is in the woods so I try to make my home feel like I'm up north. I surround myself with things that remind me of the great outdoors. Log furniture, red buffalo check, snowshoes, skis, antlers, and quilts since I like to quilt and many other things.
