I noticed on my walk today that we have new blooms along the road.
My husband said yesterday they were lupine. I assured him lupine are
much taller, but upon  close inspection I realized he was right. These
are definitely lupine flowers. I don't know why but the
Yukon lupine doesn't grow as tall as our Ontario plants does. But they
are still pretty, just a mini version.
I found another bird to add to my small collection while in Skagway. I had too
much light on so the photos not the best. I was going to show you my collection thus far, but I haven't transfered my old photos to this new laptop yet. Silly me.
And I just had to have this retro (1954) tissue holder. It's actually older
than me! It reads, Flin Flon, Manitoba. I think it will look cute
in our cabin, don't you?  Oh, and it was only $10.-not bad.
Will you please pray for my folks? My mother fell and they don't feel she'll
ever be able to walk again. This means she has to go to the nursing home.
She has always dreaded this day coming and she so wants to go to be with
the Lord. She is in a lot of pain as well. I can't know the Lords plan, but I
hate to see her suffer. This is so hard on my Dad also.
I'm so thankful that  I  now have a network of blogger friends
that I can turn to for prayer. Thank you all.

  1. Kimberly, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's fall. That's not a good thing for older folks. I'll keep her in thoughts and prayers for sure.

We saw tons of lupine on the Kenai peninsula and it got about 20 inches tall, but we also saw some in the Yukon that was short. Guess it just depends on the microclimate.

  2. Oh Kimberly, I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. It's such a difficult time for you being so far away when your parents need you. The tissue holder is pretty neat and will fit perfectly in your home. Thinking of you at this time and praying for God's peace to surround you and your family. Hugs, Pam

  3. I'm sorry to hear that your mom has fallen. I will be praying and will put your mom and your family on my list. Please keep us updated on her condition.

Love the tissue holder, I have never seen any thing like it. xo

  4. So sorry to read about your mother's fall and her plight. Quite often, "they" are wrong and so I will join you in praying for God's very best for her and your dad and the entire family.

It's quite nice to know that lupines are blooming here AND there.

  5. Sorry to hear about your Mom...I know you just want to be there for her. Prayers for you.

That's wild lupine...thus the shorter stature...however, my wild is taller because it is wetter here.

  6. Thinking of you and praying for Mom. It is a difficult time when our parents age and we feel so helpless.

  7. I will be praying. I know your heart is heavy being so far away.
I will pray that God heals her so she doesn't have to go into a nursing home.
    I love your photos.

  8. Hi Kimberly, I will definitely pray for your Mom --and your dad... Bless her heart. It's so hard to get old. I saw my mother really struggle the last year of her life on this earth. And --George's Daddy (who will be 100 in August) is still hanging on but doesn't have alot of quality left in his life... Too bad ---and hard for us.

God Bless Your Mom... I will pray for her. I know you worry about her so I will keep you in my prayers also.

  9. I am so sorry to hear about your mom. It must be very scary for her. I will certainly keep her in my prayers. How pretty the lupine is.

  10. I think those are alpine lupins, aren't they cute!

That tissue holder is really something, I think I have saw that somewhere,

so so sorry your mum took a fall, I will keep her in my prayers, thankyou so much for visiting tonight, hope you are well,

  11. That tissue cover is cute!

  14. Kimberly- I am so, so sorry to hear about your Mom. It is never easy to see our folks get to this age. I know it must break your heart, her heart and your Dad's heart. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Love your old tissue holder- how fun. And that bird is just darling.
    Blessings to you- xo Diana

  15. The Lupine is beautiful and I'll be praying for your mom and dad.

  17. Your poor Mum and your Dad, old age isn't for sooks is it? Hugs to them both and to you too! :O)

  18. Kimberly..
So sorry to read about your mom's fall!!
You know I'll pray for her, and for your dad!
Praying for your family too...as I know it is hard on you to know the pain and suffering that your mom is going through at this time.

I think you bought a great treasure! That tissue holder is simply charming; as is the little bird that you got for your collection.

    Sending hugs and prayers....

  19. So sorry to hear about your Mom...will pray. Love the tissue holder:)

  20. Kimberly...so hard about your mom...praying for her now.
I love that tissue holder. Now that might be your best souvenir yet.
Oh...and the lupins? We have them here too...slightly taller but they bloom here every spring all over the ditches...love them.

  21. Kimberly - I will be praying for your mom. I know how hard it is to be worrying about an aging parent. Prayers for you too!

  22. Your lupin look a bit like Texas bluebonnets, sweet and demure cousins of the long legged lupines that are found all over North America.

I feel so for you and your mom's situation. We middle aged daughters know our mothers will not be with us forever, but we want them in health and happiness until the end, and in their own homes too. I will add my prayers for your mom today; today is my own mother's 84 th birthday and her second knee repacement is in three weeks.
Wouldn't it be great if our parents could get younger as we get older?

  23. It must be so hard not to able to give her a hug. Oh yes, prayers are being sent up, even as you read this.

  24. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's fall. I will pray for her and for you and your dad, too.
The lupine is such a pretty color and the tissue cover is a great find!

  25. I am very sorry to hear about your Mother, I am sure it is very difficult for you and your family now. I will pray for her and your love ones. Following you my friend. Diane

  26. What a dreadful thing to have happen and for her to endure. She will be in my prayers!

  27. Oh dear, I hate hear about your Mom, maybe she hurts now, but the body has amazing healing powers and I pray it will get better as time goes on. Pain is such a tough thing to handle on a continuous basis and I am sure has caused her such sadness, tell her not to give up the ship yet! It must be tough for you to be so far away.

  28. It's so hard to see ones parents grow older. Saying a prayer for your Mom and Dad. Your lupine is gorgeous!

  29. Hello Kimberly, found your blog and must say very enjoyable. Love that you live in a log cabin, my dream. Will say a prayer for your Mom and one for your Dad, so so sad. The retro tissue holder is from my Province of Manitiba, Canada, to funny. Blessings Francine.

  30. Aren't there other options for her? Wheelchair, in home nursing care. As long as your Dad is still there it should be okay. My Aunt took care of my Uncle for many years after his stroke and he never had to go to a home. They put in a stair lift and she had home nurses come and bathe him etc. A nursing home is not cheap so home health services do all they can to keep the couple together and also to keep them in their home. Those scooter chairs I think are able to get through regular doorways and such. It might be worth looking into. Just some ideas but meanwhile I will pray.

  31. My heart goes out to your poor Mom and Dad, it's a day that none of them or us, for that matter look forward to. My prayers are with them.
I LOVE the tissue holder, interesting that it's from north of me here, of all places.
When I lived in the north, I noticed that a lot of things were smaller in size there, even the trees, I think it's due to the short growing season, that's how they've adapted, in my own opinion.
    Hugs, Cindy

  32. I will pray for your parents and you all that the right decision will be made for her care. We've been through a similar thing in the last few months. We've had to move my 96 year old mother in law to a private care home.
Love the pretty flowers - look just like our Texas Bluebonnets!

  33. Don't know how, I keep missing your posts.
I need to come here and catch up on all your more current blog posts.
    The flowers are pretty.
the tissue box looks cool-- seems fitting for a cabin!

I am sorry for you and your mom. She must be terribly upset. I hope that she sees this time as restful and that it will help her to Trust the LORD more each day. I will pray for her.
If the worst case scenerio is not walking again--The Lord will give her the strength to live with that.
He decides who walks and who doesn't.
Praying for her recovery, but mostly for Peace and healing, and no pain.

  34. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom and she is in our prayers.....how sad indeed.
Our Lupine is out in full force too.....love it!
