The Christmas Window

I wanted to share my kitchen window with you today,  since it is where I've started my Christmas decorating this season.
I wasn't going to purchase any decorations this year since I have way more than I need or want already,
but I couldn't resist the white reindeer when I saw them at Canadian Tire.
And I knew just where I wanted to place them-on this little shelf in our kitchen window.

Can you see the snow outside our window?
It is definitely a Winter Wonderland here in Northern Ontario!
I went outside today long enough to collect a few greens Tim had gotten for me.
At 2F it didn't take long for my face to feel the chill..
But it was also so refreshing.
It was so calm, clean and bright out there!
It is days like today that make me realize why I love living in the North so much...
But that, my friends, could fill a whole book.
So I'll save it for another time...

I am making the five hour trip south Friday to the Soo(Sault Ste. Marie).
I am praying that STAPLES will do right by me and restore to my laptop the programs that were lost while they had it in their possession.
Until this happens I will just have to be happy with two picture post I guess!
What is it they say-that less is more?
I hope so.

Cabin Christmas Decor

I should probably have titled this post The
Ghost of Christmas Past.
As my thoughts turn towards Christmas decorating this year I'm looking back at years gone by to gather a few ideas.
(And really to help me remember what's buried in those totes marked Christmas down in my basement!)
I am sharing my previous two years deck photos with you also because nearly everyday someone is repinning them.

I guess they were kinda cute!

Here is another Christmas vignette from our log home kitchen.

And lastly, a hot cocoa Christmas tray.

Dear Friends, if you would like to use any of my Christmas ideas please feel free to pin any of them!

Also check out my Pinterest 'Christmas Joy' board for many other bloggers creative holiday ideas too.

More Boring Christmas Photos

Now in all honesty I really loved creating this outdoor arrangement. I will admit some of the elements were the same as Itsy Bits and Pieces Nov. 17th porch vignette. I had everything laying around and Tim was sweet enough to go out and dig up a little evergreen tree for me to use.

The snow....Well, there was a wee bit left in a shaded place in the yard. So I shoveled it and then
tried to simulate falling snow so it would catch on the limbs of the tree and look natural. It didn't turn out too bad. We are, supposedly, getting snow in the next two days. I'll believe that when I see it!

A door arrangement. This is actually my bathroom door.

And the most important display of all-The Nativity. I've had this for over 25 years. It was given
to me by a friend who has since passed away. I think of her every time I look at it. She was a
great prayer partner of mine when my children were young. She loved to pray and worship God.
She died a very unusual accidental death, which always makes me pause to consider that none
of us are infallible. We need the assurance and the peace that  when we  leave this world
we too will meet our Saviour. Campus Crusades  has a wonderfully simple explanation of how
we can do this. Please visit the site if your heart is telling you to. It is such a simple step, but
what a huge impact it has made on my life. Well, I hadn't  meant to preach when I began this
story. I guess one thing just leads to another and another, and then here I am just talking from
    heart.
That's all I have for today my friends. Have a great Wednesday!

Finally Snow

Well ladies this is the extent of my Christmas decorating. Now that I have my sewing done I am
ready to go to town with it. I had everything out to start, but found out my sis in-law will be          arriving tonight, so a quick change of plans with everything going back in the tote.
We have a WEE bit of snow, but the winds have been ferocious, not allowing much to gather
on the ground. I have missed visiting with all of you! I will be back full force on Monday and
hopefully I will have some photos of the cabin decorated by then.
    Have a great weekend all!

It's Beginning..

                                              BH&G-2000
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Everywhere! In the stores, on the tube, and even on
our blogs. I, personally, don't decorate until the first of December. But I do like to work on projects and get new decor ideas planned ahead of time. After all, it is a 40 minute drive to any stores here, so no running to pick something up if  I've forgotten it.

                           canadian home & country
For all my horsey blogger friends-how about a wreath for decorating your horses neck? It looks great for a photo opt, but not very practical!  I do think the urn is beautifully done though. And I still like to hang my Christmas cards as they arrive, do you?
     LLBean
Isn't this lovely? One of the advantages of living in the woods is all the free greenery at hand. There is nothing here that I will have to purchase. Well, the light if I want one exactly like this one!

And, of course, the traditional pine wreath is still one of my favorites.
Have you began planning your holiday decorating yet? I know some ladies (mostly my Canadian
friends) who are now setting out some of their Christmas decor, since Thanksgiving has been long
over. Please keep sharing your Christmas ideas, as I still need some fresh ones for this year!
Hope you have a great weekend.
