More Boring Christmas Photos

Now in all honesty I really loved creating this outdoor arrangement. I will admit some of the elements were the same as Itsy Bits and Pieces Nov. 17th porch vignette. I had everything laying around and Tim was sweet enough to go out and dig up a little evergreen tree for me to use.

The snow....Well, there was a wee bit left in a shaded place in the yard. So I shoveled it and then
tried to simulate falling snow so it would catch on the limbs of the tree and look natural. It didn't turn out too bad. We are, supposedly, getting snow in the next two days. I'll believe that when I see it!

A door arrangement. This is actually my bathroom door.

And the most important display of all-The Nativity. I've had this for over 25 years. It was given
to me by a friend who has since passed away. I think of her every time I look at it. She was a
great prayer partner of mine when my children were young. She loved to pray and worship God.
She died a very unusual accidental death, which always makes me pause to consider that none
of us are infallible. We need the assurance and the peace that  when we  leave this world
we too will meet our Saviour. Campus Crusades  has a wonderfully simple explanation of how
we can do this. Please visit the site if your heart is telling you to. It is such a simple step, but
what a huge impact it has made on my life. Well, I hadn't  meant to preach when I began this
story. I guess one thing just leads to another and another, and then here I am just talking from
That's all I have for today my friends. Have a great Wednesday!

  1. Kimberly, Love the outdoor display. SNOW,,, wishing I could see some here about now. Suppose to be close to 70 degrees here today. A good day for candy making but kind of hard to get in the Christmas spirit with it so warm out. Love the nativity scene. Don't you just love things that hold a special memory? And a wonderful devotion on this Wednesday morning. You have a great day.

  2. So cute...I pinned two of your photos to my Pinterest collection...the snow shoes and the evergreen cone wrapped in burlap bow...Mel's Designs

  3. Kimberely, I love your decor for christmas. I am also from Northrn Ontario on Lake Superior and I just started a new blog myself. I bet we live either in the same city or close by. I have lived in other communities on Lake Superior so I would know your area. Come by and visit my site some time.

  13. Well I don't thing they are boring! I think they are just lovely.
I think it is all so homey and feels so nice.
It is nice to remember those people who helped us along the way. I have a friend who passed away in a weird circumstance and she had been like that to me. She was the first Christian who invited me to her home and shared her life with me.
She told me about answered prayer and I had never even heard the concept.
It is so nice you have the nativity to remember her by.
Have a great day and I hope you get snow.

  14. I tried to leave a comment twice this morning only to realize that I needed to put in my password on my gmail account.

I love what you did with your outdoor decorations, Very warm and welcoming. I love your nativity and I agree with you that it's the most important decoration. I have mine on my buffet by the dining table just to remind anyone sitting at my table of the humble birth of our Savior, Jesus. Have a great week. JB

  15. Your place looks so festive! How neat that you have your friend's nativity.

I love Mary Stewart too. I read all her stuff when I was a preteen. I couldn't get enough! Touch Not the Cat was always my favorite, but I also really loved The Crystal Cave.

  16. Beautiful outdoor display...I love it.
I love the little nativity too, and the sweet memories that you have associated with it; very special.

Hope you get the snow that you are supposed to get.
We had a bit of fog here this morning, and no snow.
I'm ok with that though :)
Just as long as we have a white Christmas.

  17. Hi Kimberly,
    Love the winter snow vignette!
Now, if we would only get some snow for a White Christmas...
    What a beautiful nativity scene.

  19. Hey Girl...everything is so cute! to have that nativity scene out at Christmas...your's is precious!

I know we are not suppose to show any envy, but I so do envy folks from up North when it comes to Christmas...You get to have the natural trees, the natural decorations! I know they smell soooooo gooood! My last real tree that I bought lasted about 2 weeks...way tooo hot here..

  20. Lovely I love your natural decorating.

  21. Kimberly, Your outdoor display is just lovely! It is very sweet and rustic looking.

I love the handle on your bathroom door. My son-in-law would pack his bags and move in with you in a heartbeat. He's handsome but I don't know if you can afford to feed him!;>) xo Diana

  22. Your door display is beautiful, Kimberly, snow and all!

I always put my nativity scene out at Christmas, too ~ your's holds good memories.

  25. What a lovely gift your friend gave you. A couple of years ago my best friend gave me a nativity snow globe. She knew how much I love them. I now have 5 different nativity scenes out in various rooms around the house.

  26. I found an old sled this past summer, that someone was throwing away, and I want to decorate it like you did your snowshoes, Kimberly. I love a natural and rustic look.

The Nativity your friend gave you is beautiful, and all the more so as it holds a memory of her.

  27. There is nothing boring in your home!! Everything is so pretty! I love the Nativity and it is even more precious because of the memories you have of your friend.

  28. I always love stopping by your blog, it always puts a smile on my face. Your outdoor arrangement makes me wish I lived where we would get snow for Christmas. I've been sort of a bah humbug lately and think I need to visit you everyday and it will pick my spirits up! Love the apron you made!! Hugs!

  29. Your decorations are pretty, Kimberly. The nativity is the best reminder to us what this time of year is all about. We are so blessed by the celebration of the birth of Christ. What a joy to be able to celebrate his coming into this world.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, but I'm glad you have good memories of her. She sounds like she was the very best kind of friend to have. Hope you have a good weekend. :)

  30. Very cute... would love to get my hands on some ice skates but we don't really ice skate here in NZ and they are pretty hard to come by... Lol But I can enjoy your photo's instead :O)
