It's Beginning..

                                              BH&G-2000
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Everywhere! In the stores, on the tube, and even on
our blogs. I, personally, don't decorate until the first of December. But I do like to work on projects and get new decor ideas planned ahead of time. After all, it is a 40 minute drive to any stores here, so no running to pick something up if  I've forgotten it.

For all my horsey blogger friends-how about a wreath for decorating your horses neck? It looks great for a photo opt, but not very practical!  I do think the urn is beautifully done though. And I still like to hang my Christmas cards as they arrive, do you?

Isn't this lovely? One of the advantages of living in the woods is all the free greenery at hand. There is nothing here that I will have to purchase. Well, the light if I want one exactly like this one!

And, of course, the traditional pine wreath is still one of my favorites.
Have you began planning your holiday decorating yet? I know some ladies (mostly my Canadian
friends) who are now setting out some of their Christmas decor, since Thanksgiving has been long
over. Please keep sharing your Christmas ideas, as I still need some fresh ones for this year!
Hope you have a great weekend.

  2. I have my Christmas plans in my head, but haven't started decorating yet. I have to get through the US Thanksgiving first. I hate the dust a tree holds, so I try and hold out as long as my family will allow. They are always ready long before I am. I definitely want to keep it simple and decorate naturally, with pieces that can be reused in other ways. I don't like having all that stuff in storage for only once a year. I hate clutter. Thanks for sharing:) I would like to see a copy of the Canadian Home and Country Magazine, I don't think it is sold here even though I am just south of Canada in Michigan.

  3. I'm planning small changes to our traditional Christmas decorations. Nothing will go up until December 1st, and much of what I'll use will come from the woods - lots of cedar, pine, cones etc for the taking. Thanks for that gorgeous urn inspiration!

  4. So do you celebrate Thanksgiving twice? Will you have Thanksgiving on Thursday too?
I am a little torn this year. I am ready to start decorating but will wait until Friday. Maybe we have a storm coming so I might wait.
It all looks so pretty, I would love to have that L.L. Bean look around my outside lights. Have a nice weekend.

  7. I don't do a lot of decorating for Christmas, and what little I do, I put up just a week or maybe two before the day. I enjoy looking at what others use, though. We don't have much room for decorations in our small house. The wreath is really pretty!

  8. I don't decorate a thing until after Thanksgiving. And, being as Mimi just had a C-Section and I will be staying with her for a few weeks I don't know how much I will actually do this year~ xo Diana

  9. It's amazing how the season just arrives and suddenly it's here. I still have a turkey to purchase for bird day, but I did purchase some outdoor extension cords. I plan to electrify something this year. Debi

  10. Hi Kimberly,

I had to get out of the house this afternoon and decided to go for a drive in the Country and wouldn't you know it I forgot my camera...Oh well, picked up some very interesting things to re-purpose for Christmas. I always like to get out on the open road and see a different landscape...I do most of my scheming, I mean designing that way!!
Have a good time being inspired!
    Love the photos!
    All the Best,
    Christine

  11. The LL Bean wreath is so pretty and I'll bet it smells good too.
I love to see all of the Christmas decorating inspiration in blogland. I usually get started on mine over Thanksgiving weekend. Due to a little procedure I had on my shoulder I may have to postpone it a bit this year. In the meantime I'll be collecting ideas from everybody else :).

  12. I love LL Bean. Hope to get there before Christmas preferably in the wee hours of the morning as they're open 24/7.

You probably do all your own greenery. Have you already done so? It's so much easier when it's a bit warmer. I haven't yet, but must! Perhaps tomorrow.

Blogland is so beautiful in December. Sigh. Makes me happy just to think about it.

  17. Love all your pictures...We have our outdoor lights up (as of today) but not turning them on till the day after Thanksgiving, and I will decorate the week after Thanksgiving, after I recoup of course, haha. Hope you are having a good week-end!

  19. I'm getting into it gradually; which means I'm thinking about it. With two crazy dogs and a 2-year old grandson, I think my decorating will be high off the floor this year!

  20. We don't do Thanksgiving here at home so for years I have had everything up and ready for the lights and trees to be turned on Thanksgiving evening But this year with so much going on and Mother passing I am so far behind. Don't know if I will attempt all the trees or just cut back this year. I have the one up and some decorations on but not finished with it either. I do have a few gifts bought but have fallen behind in that area also. But that's okay. I am blessed and have a thankful heart. Would love to live where I could go out and get fresh greens. You are a lucky lady. Have a great day.

  21. Love all the greens!
My husband is adding more insulation to the attic (always trying to make the place warmer! and cut down on the heating bill) and we brought the Christmas decorations down and put them in the family room till next weekend - my official decorating weekend!

  22. We will definitely be decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving. I love the ideas for using natural elements to decorate as we too live in the woods,

  23. Hi Kimberly,
I caved and did a bit of decorating. I still need to add greenery. Too early to add it now. Wish I had a forest to nab boughs from. I do however have a FIL who has a large pine tree that I do a great job of trimming it every year for him. lol!

  24. Beautiful inspiration, and yes, I'm one of the Canadian friends who has already started. I admit it! :) I love Christmas and I am not over doing it this year, something simple, that is my goal.
    Hugs, Cindy
