Yukon Journey

  Day #2
Thursday's journey was full of many beautiful vistas, like this one.
These shots were taken on the western part of Ontario before the Manitoba border.

We, by chance, ate lunch at a restaurant that has been featured on the Food Network. It's
located in Vermillion Bay, Ontario. That black bag you see there is all of our clothing
and bedding!

As you can see Buster has won many ribbons for his famous BBQ sauce.
Hubby wasn't thrilled about posing, but I thought my MIL would get a kick
out of seeing his mug again!
The BBQ was good, but not as good as Tim's secret BBQ sauce.

I'm such a sucker for painted murals on walls like this one at Busters. I wish I could've
thrown it on top of the car and taken it with me.

Day#3
Oh, what a difference a day can make! Today we traveled through Saskatchewan and it rained
all the way. I forgot to photograph Manitoba yesterday-it was a lot of farmland, which this
time of year isn't really very pretty.
We passed this gas refinery as we approached Lloydminster, which is where we are
staying tonight. It's right on the Saskatchewan/Alberta border.
And this ladies is where I'm going to lay my head tonight. I haven't figured out yet how
just sitting in a car can make you feel so exhausted. I think it might have something
to do with the stress  of traveling through cities you're don't normally frequent, worrying
all of you're clothing on the top of the car will blow off; oh, all kinds of ridiculous stuff I
know! I think I'm just getting old! What else can it be?
***************************************
That's it for days 1, 2, and 3. Since we got in early today, I hope to drop in and visit your
post and see how your day is going.
Sweet Dreams!
Kimberly

  1. Kim, just climb in that bed and drift off to some sweet sleep. You deserve it. The body does get tired of being cooped up in a car zipping down the highway. Hope that your views tomorrow are all sweet ones.

  8. I've traveled that route more than once, so can imagine what you've been through. I even remember staying in Lloydminster. When we lived in Cold Lake Alberta it was a big thrill to drive the muddy road from there to the Lloyd Mall - Zellers seemed worth it!

  12. Hi Kimberly, This is so neat---going with you through Canada. Hubby and I would love to visit Canada someday---all of it.. I have a blog friend in Manitoba and one in Saskatchewan. We could make our way across the country and visit blog friends along the way...

    Safe travels to you.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  14. You are on quite the trip! Yes, traveling can make a person very tired. Sometimes I think it's because one is forced to sit in the same position for so long. Can't wait to see the pictures that are coming up next!!! You're getting closer to MY part of Canada. Well, not now, but where I used to live.

  18. Good morning! Hope you got a good restful night! I enjoyed seeing your travels yesterday. Nothing quite like traveling to wear you. I have wondered that before too. You are basically just sitting the whole time, (and if you are like me dozing occasionally, haha) and yet I am always beat at the end of the day. It MUST be just the stress like you said. Anyway, enjoy your day today! HUGS

  19. great pictures of places I will maybe never see. I never could figure out how riding in a car can make you exhausted.
I hope you have a better day of travel today.

  20. Woo Hoo! Your first picture reminded me of when I used to drive up to Canada. I used to do it all by myself too, no cell phone, no Onstar...and there was one stretch where it was 100 miles between ANYTHING! I can't believe I was so gutsy back then....now not so much. LOL!
That restaurant looked cool so was it all what it was cracked up to be? Yes, the 2 things that tire me out the most are driving/riding and shopping. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite...literally! I pray there are no bed bugs!

  21. What beautiful country you are traveling through! That mural at Buster's is gorgeous! Maybe they have posters of it and you can order one? It looks very Maxfield Parrish-like!

  22. Hi Kimberly,
It seems that you are traveling without incident. Thank heavens.
You certainly are doing a lot of driving.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful pictures.
I too, like Farm Girl will probably never see those places in person, so thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us :)

    Keep safe.

  23. I hope you got a wonderful night's sleep. It is tiring traveling...partly because of anxiety, don't you think? Blessings to you on your journey. xo Diana

  24. You are moving right along! I know I'd be sleeping in the car a lot. As soon as we're on the road for 20 minutes I'm gone. Unless the scenery is worth keeping my eyes open for. I hope you got a good rest and continue on with safe travels. Blessings, Pamela

  25. I know what you are saying girl. I think I am more tired after traveling all day than an entire day in the garden. Always makes my bad knees ache. Hubby and I just got home last night from our trip. We were not planning on coming home until Sunday. We were going to visit Grand Canyon. I have done something to my right knee and knew that I couldn't hike or walk alot so we decided to wait and visit another time. We visited the N. rim a couple years ago, but have not been to the S. for years.
    Hugs,
    Jann
