There's No Place Like HOME

We're Home! Back to Home Sweet Home!
First I want to thank all of you who prayed for our safe travels. Everything went smoothly. We had some very long....days. And my DH drove like a man on a mission-if you know what I mean! But
we were safe, the car was safe, and our home was protected while we were away. God is so good!
The first thing I had to check upon our arrival was my Indian statuette. As you can see, he made the trip just fine. There is going to have to be a little discussion between the two of us about where he
takes up residence in our home though. He stands about a foot and a half, so the possibilities are a bit limited. I've got a feeling he'll be trying out several locations before we settle on his final resting spot.
I do think he's a fine looking fellow, don't you? He reminds me of the larger statues I saw as a young girl when we traveled throughout the West. Which is probably the reason I am so thrilled to have him.
Memories of fun times.
It rained on and off after our arrival home at 12:30 today. But we still had a decent sunset to welcome us back.

We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow with so much unpacking and re-organizing. I keep reminding myself that while I was away I thought it would be a really good idea to de-clutter the house and do some simplifying. But I have to tell you when I walked in that door today and saw our home through 'fresh' eyes I feel in love with it all over again. So maybe, just maybe, that de-cluttering will have to be put on hold! At least for the time being.

  1. So glad you made it safe and sound! Oh you're right, there is no place like home!

  2. Oh I am thrilled to know that you are safely home. So how fast was he going? Ha! Yes, just enjoy your home for a good long while and rest and do fun things. What a beautiful photo of the lake. Absolutely fantastic!

  3. Ah, home! There's no place better!

  4. Oh I am so glad you are home!!! I have thought about you and then when there was that huge storm I prayed that you were already almost home before it hit. I love your Indian. One of the things I am always looking for is a wooden Indian. One year we drove through Quanah Texas and on everyone's front porch was wooden Indians for sale I have wanted to go back every year to get one. Yours is maybe the prettiest I have ever seen. It is so nice that you saw your home with fresh eyes. I am so glad you are there now and such a pretty sunset too.

  5. Welcome Home!
glad your trip was a safe one. Now for some R&R!

  6. Ahhh... love how you feel in love with your home all over again.

    Welcome back, welcome home.
    Home Sweet Home!

  7. So glad you are HOME--and made it with no problems. I know you will sleep well tonight!!!! Love that sunset... Gorgeous!!!

I'm sure you'll find the perfect place for your little Indian friend. You MUST give him a name...

  8. Welcome home, I am so glad you had a safe trip.

It is so good to see that familiar view that you have shared with us so many times in the past. Can't wait for you to get settled in and get all up to date on everything.

Have a good rest tonight..I'm sure you will. xo

  9. I'm so very glad that you are home, safe and sound. I'd be excited to come back to your cottage on the lake, too. (At least until winter sets in!!!)

  10. Welcome back! Your right, there is NO place like home...the sunset is gorgeous. Big hugs!

  11. I so agree with everyone. There is no place like home! What a relief this posting has been to know you arrived safely.

Love your Wooden Indian. The song Kawliga was a Wooden Indian standing by the door, come to mind. Boy does that age me!! A good ole Hank Williams song. In case you don't know the next line it goes - he fell in love with an Indian maiden over at the Antique store. Pretty cute little tune.

Glad your home and now you can relax, well after laundry and unpacking!

  12. Yay... there's no place like home! Glad to hear you made it safely...:O)

  13. There's no place like home.
Welcome back to Ontario, so glad the journey was a safe one. Just knowing you were heading home made it all the better, even if there were long days of driving.
Enjoy the unpacking, arranging, visiting with family and friends. You will have so much to share with everyone.

  14. Good Morning Kimberly!
So happy for you that you are back home safe and sound!
    Home is best :)

Best of luck with all your unpacking, and re-organizing.
While you're working away, I'll bet you find the perfect place for your little statue.

  15. So glad you made it home safe, I think you need a rest before you decide to de-clutter or not. Have a lovely weekend:)

  16. I am happy you got home safely and found everything in order. It is always good to be in our familiar surroundings after a journey. Have a great weekend cleaning, sorting and unpacking. Blessings, Pam

  17. I agree - I'm such a "homebody!"
Thanks for sharing your adventures. I really enjoyed it!

  18. Just savor being home for a while - no rush to declutter and organize!

I'm glad you are home safe!

  19. I always felt the same way after being away from our home for the summer and walking through the doors again`, it was bliss.....So glad your home again!

  20. Home is in our hearts, Kim and it travels with us yet always expects to be returned!!...:)JP

  21. There is nothing better than home sweet home!!!

  22. You live in such a wonderful place! Glad you made it home safe and sound.

I am a big de-clutterer and I need to do more of it. I find when I clean things out, make more space by discarding things out of my environment, I have more peace. It is a constant struggle.

  23. Thanking God for your safe travels.
Glad you are home! Maybe you need a few days of rest before all that unpacking...I'm sure there is that perfect place in your home, just waiting for Mr. Statue...
    Get some rest.

  24. There's no place like home! Love the statue :-)

  25. Hi Kimberly, so glad to hear you made it home safe and sound. Love the indian, he will look great no matter where he stands. Beautiful sunset, really pretty. Blessings Francine.

  26. So glad you made it home safe and sound! How exciting to be home after your adventurous and hard working Summer. I feel like I'm home now too as I missed your lake pictures this Summer but sure loved sharing in your trip!

  27. awww, seeing it through fresh eyes, I love that, that is a beautiful statue, such wonderful photos!!Relax and enjoy your home,

  28. I'm glad you made it safely there. It really is true--there's no place like home. Beautiful sunset photos! I hope you have a great week!

  29. have made the full circle in a very short amount of time! tried it..gave it all you had and it just wasn't meant to be this time around. So glad you had your home to go back to!

  30. I know that you're thrilled to be home! I hope that this week has provided opportunities to rest and restore.

Your words about falling in love with your house after seeing it through fresh eyes...I know exactly how you felt. Coming home after an extended time away (although none of my times have been as long as yours!) has had the same effect on me. Everything looks bright and vivid and cheerful...and home!

  31. Welcome back to the lower eight, or is it nine? I know you must be very glad to be home, that is a horrificly long drive!!! I would not want to make it. Just two and a half to BC is too long in the car for me.
Wow! You have such a beautiful place there on the lake in Ont., I would never want to leave that. I love lakes.
    Hugs, Cindy
