There's No Place Like HOME

We're Home! Back to Home Sweet Home!
First I want to thank all of you who prayed for our safe travels. Everything went smoothly. We had some very long....days. And my DH drove like a man on a mission-if you know what I mean! But
we were safe, the car was safe, and our home was protected while we were away. God is so good!
The first thing I had to check upon our arrival was my Indian statuette. As you can see, he made the trip just fine. There is going to have to be a little discussion between the two of us about where he
takes up residence in our home though. He stands about a foot and a half, so the possibilities are a bit limited. I've got a feeling he'll be trying out several locations before we settle on his final resting spot.
I do think he's a fine looking fellow, don't you? He reminds me of the larger statues I saw as a young girl when we traveled throughout the West. Which is probably the reason I am so thrilled to have him.
Memories of fun times.
It rained on and off after our arrival home at 12:30 today. But we still had a decent sunset to welcome us back.

We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow with so much unpacking and re-organizing. I keep reminding myself that while I was away I thought it would be a really good idea to de-clutter the house and do some simplifying. But I have to tell you when I walked in that door today and saw our home through 'fresh' eyes I feel in love with it all over again. So maybe, just maybe, that de-cluttering will have to be put on hold! At least for the time being.

  4. Oh I am so glad you are home!!! I have thought about you and then when there was that huge storm I prayed that you were already almost home before it hit. I love your Indian. One of the things I am always looking for is a wooden Indian. One year we drove through Quanah Texas and on everyone's front porch was wooden Indians for sale I have wanted to go back every year to get one. Yours is maybe the prettiest I have ever seen. It is so nice that you saw your home with fresh eyes. I am so glad you are there now and such a pretty sunset too.

  11. I so agree with everyone. There is no place like home! What a relief this posting has been to know you arrived safely.

Love your Wooden Indian. The song Kawliga was a Wooden Indian standing by the door, come to mind. Boy does that age me!! A good ole Hank Williams song. In case you don't know the next line it goes - he fell in love with an Indian maiden over at the Antique store. Pretty cute little tune.

Glad your home and now you can relax, well after laundry and unpacking!

Welcome back to Ontario, so glad the journey was a safe one. Just knowing you were heading home made it all the better, even if there were long days of driving.
Enjoy the unpacking, arranging, visiting with family and friends. You will have so much to share with everyone.

  22. You live in such a wonderful place! Glad you made it home safe and sound.

I am a big de-clutterer and I need to do more of it. I find when I clean things out, make more space by discarding things out of my environment, I have more peace. It is a constant struggle.

  30. I know that you're thrilled to be home! I hope that this week has provided opportunities to rest and restore.

Your words about falling in love with your house after seeing it through fresh eyes...I know exactly how you felt. Coming home after an extended time away (although none of my times have been as long as yours!) has had the same effect on me. Everything looks bright and vivid and cheerful...and home!

  31. Welcome back to the lower eight, or is it nine? I know you must be very glad to be home, that is a horrificly long drive!!! I would not want to make it. Just two and a half to BC is too long in the car for me.
Wow! You have such a beautiful place there on the lake in Ont., I would never want to leave that. I love lakes.
    Hugs, Cindy
