Christmas Sewing

DH and I had to go in town today so I have been wanting to pop into the fabric shop to look for
a fabric for bed shams I want to make. Well, I didn't find fabric for the shams, but look what I
found. This is part of a panel for a Mary Engelbreit cloth Christmas book. I think it's so sweet
and I think I'll be hard pressed to find anyone out there that with argue with me on this. I
bought two panels, for my two youngest grandchildren, to make up for Christmas.

There are 12 panels altogether-all equally sweet. They also had children flannel on sale for half
off. I sure wish I lived close enough to all my grand kids so I could make them all Christmas pj's.
But patterns do not always run true, so I don't want to run the risk of making them and having
  them not fit!

The lady that cut my panels for me said that there are other  M. E. fabric books she didn't have
out yet, so I'll go back next week to check them out and see if there are any suitable for the old-
    er grand kids.
On another note. Please don't for get my 100 follower give away on Oct.31st. Two more days to
enter. 1) Just become a follower, if you are not already. 2) Post a comment on my blog letting
me know you want to enter the drawing. 3) Make a reference on your blog letting other blogger
know about my drawing-should they want to enter too!
Also, Courtney at Sassafras and Winterberry  has two more days until her drawing.
And now Jann at A Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson is having another drawing. You all know that
I won an apron from her last drawing. She has three cute Christmas aprons for me to choose
from. To enter her drawing you have to guess which one I chose. If you are correct, you will
be entered in her drawing for one of the other Christmas aprons. So pop over and let her know
which one you think I picked. I can't wait to see just how well you all have gotten to know me
these last few months. Jann came up with this neat idea-I think it will be fun!
Hope you all have a blessed Sunday.

  1. OH-I love Mary Engelbreit. I have a lot of her books on gift wrapping, etc. I was so disappointed when they stopped publishing her magazine. I will have to look and see if I can find those booklets. xo Diana

  2. Cute book panels, do you quilt them, or have to back them in any way? What a great gift for a child:)

  3. Those are very cute panels. I am glad you won that apron. I bet it is nice to be thinking of Christmas. I am sitting here in shorts with my doors all open because it is so warm.
It is hard for me to get my mind geared toward Christmas.
    It all looks so nice,
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Those panels are adorable! I don't blame you for wanting to be sure about sizing. Hmmm, as for the apron...do any have apples on them? Apple pie? Cookie cutters?

  8. Those panels are so cute, I didn't know she had new things out. I will have to check out a large fabric store in Portland and see if they carry these. xo

  9. Those panels are just darling! I would LOVE something like that but haven't seen them in our fabric store!?

I know what you mean about patterns being a problem. I have my moms measure their kids from waist to ankle and then I adjust the patterns accordingly, but the trickiest part for me is the waist. I take my elastic and pull it somewhat around the waist tightly and cut it. Which you can't do of course if they are not near you...but I have found if I just measure the waist, they are always too big....frustrating.

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

  13. This is so cute! I also love Mary Engelbreit. My grandma made fabric books from panels like this for my kids years ago, and we still pull them out every year.

  17. That ME flannel is so cute it hurts!!! I love it, I am going to make pj's for my grands who live two thousand miles away, am I being silly? I think I can do it if I have my daughter measure them carefully. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
