Heidi's Pet Moose

Isn't this creature beautiful? My friend Heidi over at The PolkaDot Petticoat has moose
visiting in her yard daily. They like to eat the birch bark from her trees. This photo is
a couple of weeks old, but if you'd like to see more current photos pop over and see
yesterdays post. The moose pics are awesome! Oh, and she also has the largest collection
of gorgeous enamelware I've ever seen. You know, the kind with pretty porcelain flowers
all over them in lovely pinks and blues.

Old Man Winter was back visiting us again last night. I wouldn't dream of complaining,
considering that there are literally towns being wiped out from the horrible tornadoes
blowing across the USA. I'm praying, I'm sure you are too.
Would you look at this guy. He thinks if he covers his eyes, it will all go away!
No such luck, Mister.
I can't help it. Even though I so badly want Spring to come, my heart still skips
a beat and I get all excited when I wake up to this beautiful Winter Wonderland.
What is the weather in your neck of the woods. My sis, who lives in MO. is going
to be in the 60's this week. Her roses and fruit trees have budded. It's so hard to
imagine!
Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend

  1. I'll have to go visit that blog to see more of her pet moose! Amazing. You did get some snow. It's snowing lightly here this morning and changing to rain later on. Messy, damp, dreary. March.

  2. Um. I didn't see any moose on her blog. Only fashion photos. What happened to the moose?

  3. Your so sweet he looks cute in your backyard too!!
Thinking of your sis's temps this week makes me sometimes think what are we doing in cold country but....we have all this BIG nature and no one has summers like us! I guess this is why.....

  4. I have to agree about the snow. I want spring to come so badly, but freshly fallen snow is something quite beautiful. Living in SoCal, but in the mountains, we have people driving a hundred miles or more to come see our snow and that always makes me remember to enjoy it while it's here.

  5. Your winter pictures are very pretty, Kimberly. Our snow has all gone, at least for now, but it's too early to say it won't come back for another appearance or two this season. There isn't anything blooming here yet, but like you said, I have nothing to complain about at all with the news filled with all the devastation the weather has created in other areas in the past few days.

  6. We were hit by big snow and winds last night, too, and it is still snowing today. I envy your sister!

What a fun picture of the moose. Living here I can't imagine seeing one anywhere except the zoo. xo Diana

  9. The pictures of the snow are beautiful...I love the look of freshly fallen snow..and I don't mind going out in it every once in awhile...but I am pretty wimpy when it comes to the cold weather. We are bouncing back and forth between spring and winter, trees are budding, daffodils in my backyard...hang tight spring will be there soon. Have a great weekend
    Blessings

  10. Such a cool picture of the moose.
What fun to have a moose visit :)

We've been blasted by winter weather here as well.
My thoughts and prayers certainly go out to those folks that have suffered with the horrible tornados.
Yes.. I too will be grateful that we are just getting snow.

  12. I love your snow pictures and the lounging moose! Every time I see snow pics, my heart skips a beat because I love it so. We don't get much snow here in North Texas and we get way too much heat! We hit the mid-80's one day this week, and the rest of it was 70's although it's cooler today. It is nice weather but I'm certainly not ready for the ruthless heat that comes next. Oh well, that's life. God gave me these days and I will enjoy each and every one! I will be reading your blog regularly now and I'm going to pop on over to your friend's blog now too.
    Take care,
    D~~~~

  13. I've seen a few moose in my day, but that was a very long time ago. I think they are so magnificent! I'm ready for Spring and I really have nothing to complain about weather-wise as our winter was so mild this year. Nevertheless, I'm ready!

  15. Kimberly,

Pretty cool, but I bet her trees will suffer. The snow and sky look awesome, hope spring arrives there soon. We missed the tornadoes they finished before they got to central NC.

  19. We are having winter here too Kimberly. More than we've had all year. I too think it's a sight of beauty. Yes, the horrible weather problems are so sad. Prayers definately for them! That is such a great shot of a Moose. Hubby and I walked very close to one. Not on purpose, while hiking in Island Park. They are so huge when you actually see them in all their splendor!
    Hugs,

  20. I know...the news was just awful tonight with all the devastation and 30 some people killed. It could have been us here as it split in 2 and half of it went North and East of us and the other half went South and East of us. Those poor, poor people. It's scary living in the South in the Spring and it's not even Spring yet!
Love the moose! Beautiful creature but can be dangerous. Even more I loved your pictures of the snow and the lake...right there! How big do those waves get? Must be awesome to watch. My Bradford pear is blooming and I'm not ready for Spring! LOL!

  23. Hi Kimberly, the snow scenes are beautiful. And that's a great pic of the moose.

I don't remember what part of MO your sister lives in, but here in mid-MO the biggest snow fall we had this winter was maybe 2 inches. We've had unusually mild weather and on the 28th when the tornado struck Branson and other states, the temp that day was 70 degrees. We've had some windy days, though, but that's pretty normal for this time of year here. I don't want to be pessimistic, but I'm hoping this is not a lead in to a long, hot and dry summer!

Enjoy the snow and your weekend!

  24. Love your snow pictures! We had lovely big snowflakes that fell for about two hours the other day, but they melted as soon as they hit the ground. (because it had been in the 60's the day before.) I've enjoyed Heidi's Moose posts too.

  25. Kimberly, I love the pic of the moose. My grandparents live rurally and they have deer and bears visit them regularly looking for food, but they don't mind. We had a major snowstorm about a week ago and although it was an inconvenience you do have to put it in perspective. Like you said it could be way worse and we have to be thankful.

  26. So gorgeous! It is so beautiful, especially with the water in the background.

  27. Hi Kimberly, Wow---love your snow.. We just didn't get much at all here this winter. Sigh!!!! I love snow --and miss seeing it when we don't get any.

Guess I'll go a lifetime without seeing a moose in my yard... ha ha

    Hope you are doing okay.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  28. Those are surely beautiful snow pictures. I am really enjoying the coming of spring down here in Missouri too! I saw tulips beginning to pop up at my dad's house today.

  29. Hi Kimberly,

These pictures are beautiful! All the snow just makes us appreciate spring more. We've gone back and forth from sunny and warm, to large hail and cold weather. I'm also praying for the victims of the tornado south of us. Such devastation.

  31. Beautiful, but the Moose is a scary guy! Once when we were up in Montana a guy got killed near a salt lick in Glacier National Park the day before we were there. So I do not think I would like them in my yard!! My son was right near the horrible tornadoes this week. He was visiting a friend in Louisville Kentucky and he said the storms wore terrible. Two towns right near them suffered terribly.
