Still Working on the Kitchen

I'm not sure if you remember me mentioning that Tim & I were working on our kitchen. It's not a complete kitchen overhaul, but a kitchen face lift, I would say.
This photo on the left is one of my inspiration kitchens.
I love the black island and the white cabinets.

Here is our island with the new counter top and wood trim that Tim has added. I think the trim adds a bit of needed character to the plain wood. My next step is to paint it black.
You can surely see why the kitchen below has inspired me! The matching window and under sink curtain are so gorgeous.  Of course that's not the only element that makes this kitchen so beautiful.

As you can see I haven't quite made it to the fabric store to pick out my sink skirt fabric yet! You can see a little peek of our new black sink and the new counter tops. Just a peek for now ladies, I'll reveal it all when we are completely done.
The last inspiration photo is to show you the bead board back splash that I like. I used this in our other home and really liked it . In my book, you just can't go wrong with it.
We are both committed to getting this job done by next week. So wish us luck! I'm sorry this post is so wonky. My browser button isn't working, so I had to post my photos by HTML. It's new to me as you can obviously tell! If you're interested in seeing better inspiration photos, take a look at my pinterest account by clicking on the button at the top left side bar.
This, my friends , is my inspiration for lake living. It's been windy here all day, with some good sized  waves rolling in. Tomorrow it may be as smooth
as glass, you  just never know what to expect.
Lastly, would you please say a prayer for our DIL? My son called to let me know they had to fly out from Skagway to Juneau Friday. She is suffering from a pregnancy outside of the uterus. She is in a lot of pain. They will do more blood work today and determine what to do from their findings.
She isn't more than a few weeks pregnant, so that's a blessing.
It's so nice to know that you're agreeing in prayer with me.
Thanks!

  8. I love your inspiration photos and your new black sink and new countertops. Will you paint all your cupboards white and the island black? I will look forward to the reveal. I am hoping to finally get a back splash this spring (after 2 years!) and would also like bead board. I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter and will pray for healing and comfort for you all. It would be difficult for you, as a mum, to be so far away from her. God bless. Hugs, Pam

  21. That's going to look beautiful! Yes, the trim will really help to set it off. We adore our black kitchen island. We went with brown & black speckled sink to tie it together. And the island is a distressed finish. I figured that it was going to get a lot of wear and tear, and with a distressed finish, who would know the difference with extra dings and scuffs! Here's our kitchen, right before we moved in. http://cottagedays.blogspot.com/2010/06/cottage-kitchen-reveal-part-1.html
