More Boring Christmas Photos

Now in all honesty I really loved creating this outdoor arrangement. I will admit some of the elements were the same as Itsy Bits and Pieces Nov. 17th porch vignette. I had everything laying around and Tim was sweet enough to go out and dig up a little evergreen tree for me to use.

The snow....Well, there was a wee bit left in a shaded place in the yard. So I shoveled it and then
tried to simulate falling snow so it would catch on the limbs of the tree and look natural. It didn't turn out too bad. We are, supposedly, getting snow in the next two days. I'll believe that when I see it!

A door arrangement. This is actually my bathroom door.

And the most important display of all-The Nativity. I've had this for over 25 years. It was given
to me by a friend who has since passed away. I think of her every time I look at it. She was a
great prayer partner of mine when my children were young. She loved to pray and worship God.
She died a very unusual accidental death, which always makes me pause to consider that none
of us are infallible. We need the assurance and the peace that  when we  leave this world
we too will meet our Saviour. Campus Crusades  has a wonderfully simple explanation of how
we can do this. Please visit the site if your heart is telling you to. It is such a simple step, but
what a huge impact it has made on my life. Well, I hadn't  meant to preach when I began this
story. I guess one thing just leads to another and another, and then here I am just talking from
    heart.
That's all I have for today my friends. Have a great Wednesday!

  1. Kimberly, Love the outdoor display. SNOW,,, wishing I could see some here about now. Suppose to be close to 70 degrees here today. A good day for candy making but kind of hard to get in the Christmas spirit with it so warm out. Love the nativity scene. Don't you just love things that hold a special memory? And a wonderful devotion on this Wednesday morning. You have a great day.

  3. Kimberely, I love your decor for christmas. I am also from Northrn Ontario on Lake Superior and I just started a new blog myself. I bet we live either in the same city or close by. I have lived in other communities on Lake Superior so I would know your area. Come by and visit my site some time.

  5. I love all of these images...my nativity is the most important piece that I put up every year too! The kids get involved and help and baby Jesus is always the coveted piece to "position".

I love the outdoor display too! We have only had a smattering of snow so far, but there is always hope that we will have some of the "white stuff" for Christmas!

  13. Well I don't thing they are boring! I think they are just lovely.
I think it is all so homey and feels so nice.
It is nice to remember those people who helped us along the way. I have a friend who passed away in a weird circumstance and she had been like that to me. She was the first Christian who invited me to her home and shared her life with me.
She told me about answered prayer and I had never even heard the concept.
It is so nice you have the nativity to remember her by.
Have a great day and I hope you get snow.

  14. I tried to leave a comment twice this morning only to realize that I needed to put in my password on my gmail account.

I love what you did with your outdoor decorations, Very warm and welcoming. I love your nativity and I agree with you that it's the most important decoration. I have mine on my buffet by the dining table just to remind anyone sitting at my table of the humble birth of our Savior, Jesus. Have a great week. JB

  15. Your place looks so festive! How neat that you have your friend's nativity.

I love Mary Stewart too. I read all her stuff when I was a preteen. I couldn't get enough! Touch Not the Cat was always my favorite, but I also really loved The Crystal Cave.

I love the little nativity too, and the sweet memories that you have associated with it; very special.

Hope you get the snow that you are supposed to get.
We had a bit of fog here this morning, and no snow.
I'm ok with that though :)
Just as long as we have a white Christmas.

  26. I found an old sled this past summer, that someone was throwing away, and I want to decorate it like you did your snowshoes, Kimberly. I love a natural and rustic look.

  29. Your decorations are pretty, Kimberly. The nativity is the best reminder to us what this time of year is all about. We are so blessed by the celebration of the birth of Christ. What a joy to be able to celebrate his coming into this world.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, but I'm glad you have good memories of her. She sounds like she was the very best kind of friend to have. Hope you have a good weekend. :)
